I’m new to this.  But I struggle with over eating and choosing what is healthy to eat.I’m new to this. But I struggle with over eating and choosing what is healthy to eat. I’m addicted to sweets and my most addiction is soda I’ve stopped drinking soda once or twice before but had those awful headaches and got right back into it again. I’m trying to lose weight but it’s so hard. Any tips? I like walking but it’s so cold out right now.

I went "cold turkey" on my soda (3 a day) & chocolate milk (16 oz. ) addition--lost 5 pounds the first week on WW. Now I substitute Coke Zero, Unsweetened Tea, and water. Yes, it's a struggle but worth my health! Good Luck!

My daughter was told her headaches were from pop. and she would get a headache but a pop or candy would make them go away doc said its like a addiction so you feed it with another pop.

It will take three days so so for the cravings to stop, sugar withdrawal. I like toast with cinnamon and stevia for something sweet. or apple sauce, oatmeal with berries and a dab of cool whip. either hot or cold

Focus on portion control until you can make the switch to more healthy eating. Read your material for ideas on food choices. I drink @electrotechnics3943et Coke and I lost 100 lbs. I just adjusted my amount. You can do this!

Mix your soda with soda water. Slowly increase the amount of soda water and decrease the amount of sugar soda so you don’t get the nasty withdrawals. Have tons of fresh fruit available, get a bag of your fav snack and some plastic ziplocks or containers and write the points value on them, grab one when you’re hungry. Plan ahead and pre track what you’re going to eat for the day. Do some prep like making a veg, fruit or cheese & meat trays ready to go. Get some nice cups to drink your water out of. When you feel like binging drink a cup of water and walk away from the food, if you’re hungry 20-30 minutes after have a snack. Brush your teeth when you need a sweet!

I also have an addiction to sodas. Here in the south we call all sodas Coke. I found that when I finally got off regular coke to @electrotechnics3943et Coke I was just as addicted to that. I now use sparkling water instead of any diet or regular cokes. I make sure I get the ones that do not have any artificial sugars. So they are not sweet but they have fizz so after about a week or two I no longer have any trouble drinking them. For me they are a really good substitute. From what I have read as long as they aren’t sweetened with artificial sweeteners they are not bad for you. Baby steps. The brands I like are “Bubly” and LaCroix.

I suggest training yourself to eat fruit as a sweet. Oranges are in season, or if you can get it start with fresh pineapple. After a while your eyes will light up when you see a fruit tray in the break room at work :-)

I still allow myself pop (soda- yes I am from the mid-west) but I buy the bottles. I allow once a day and only 4 oz. I try and savor the sips.

Push through the headache, it’s a beast but after a few days you will feel SO much better. Soda was tough for me, it was my only form of caffeine. You can do this!

The lack of caffeine is what is giving you a headache. Crystal light has some caffeine in them and helps with that. I get the singles that I add to bottle of water.

I use to run in place for half an hour while watching the news. You could walk in place also. You could do a walk video

I switched over to Cirkul for my drinks for the most part, being able to change the flavors and make them stronger or lighter was a big win for me. They even have coffee flavors and caffeine options! Check out my post about it with some other drink options.

Switch to diet—if you don’t like it just force yourself eventually you will and then cut back on having that too

Try diluting your soda a little at a time with plain seltzer water. It will help wean you off the sugar and the caffeine, therefore eliminating the cold turkey headaches.

Switch to diet or crystal light and take an excedrin for headache( they have caffeine in them). You dont need to go out in the cold. Run in place, jumping jacks, mini trampolines etc. You have many options

WW works for me. Try to switch to calorie free drinks. I like the flavored sparkling water. The headaches end

@paver16739 @electrotechnics3943et POP is worse than the regular Pop. Cutting out sodas only for six months and drinking water, could reduce your weight significantly. A half hour walk daily. will reduce even more. Walking that increases your heart rate and breaks a sweat even more. A salad with lunch and dinner and fruit with breakfast.  you’ll get there eventually. One step at a time, one day at a time and one bite at a time.

You may want to consider caffeine pills while you transition off the colas. Then you can come down off the caffeine more gradually than cold turkey and avoid the headaches.

I love flavoured carbonated water. And I drink a lot of tea which has caffeine. Also, the Bostwick YMCA has a great indoor walking track that is free to use. Fit for Less Memberships are only $10. 00 a month and you could use the elliptical or treadmill during the months when it’s harder to get outside. Good luck!
