Does anyone use supplements to aid in weight loss? Like Apple Cider Vinegar?

None of those things actually work. Changing diet, lifestyle & exercise are the only things that are going to help you lose weight & keep it off. The rest is just costing you money in the long run without any proof of results.
by (3.5k points)
@kurd3077 Just because an article says it’s proven it doesn’t mean anything.
by (3.5k points)
@kurd3077 and this is directly from the article… However, keep in mind that this study went on for 3 months, so the true effects on body weight seem to be rather modest. That said, just adding or subtracting single foods or ingredients rarely has a noticeable effect on weight.
by (3.5k points)
@kurd3077 This is changing my diet and exercising. No adding fed supplements or things to my diet that may or may not be a replacement for hard work.
by (850 points)
@durwin not true. Organic Apple cider vinegar with the “mother” sediment is highly effective for weight control and a myriad of other things. Of course hard work will eventually get you to a successful goal.
by (3.5k points)
@pome6695  Of course we see people just shedding the pounds because of the Apple cider vinegar.
by (1.4k points)
@durwin . agree
by (850 points)
@durwin I didn’t say that. It is part of a healthy dietary weight loss journey which includes healthy portion-controlled eating, lots of filtered water, at least 30 minutes of aerobic, hiit and strength training workouts 3-5xs a week. Getting enough rest and trying to keep stress at bay also help as does a good attitude.

I just started collagen peptides
by (710 points)
@ragg782 I’ve just started researching collagen peptides. What brand are you using and why. So many to choose from.
by (760 points)
@sergent97 I know I haven’t committed to a big one yet Wal-Mart and target have the samples i just grabbed a weeks worth of this brand which I’ll probably end up getting
by (2.2k points)
@sergent97, @ragg782 I did a lot of research and consulted with my nutritionist. I've been using this for 2 months, primarily for joint and muscle issues related to chronic conditions (I've had 13 surgeries) . This is a highly reputable company for many reasons, affordable, effective, and no taste when I mix it in my smoothies. They also sent me a free replacement, simply for leaving an honest Amazon review ($35 product). Please do your research to make sure it's a good fit for what you need, but this is a solid place to start.
by (710 points)
@ragg782 this is actually the brand I was going to try. I didn’t realize they sell individual portions to try.
by (760 points)
@noland thanks! Sorry about your surgeries that’s actually why I wanted to start too I have back surgery it was 2 years ago but still bothering me. have you noticed an improvement since taking?
by (760 points)
@sergent97 I didn’t either just happen to see them on an end cap!

by (2.4k points)
@boondocks I take the pills. I started off making a detox kind of solution but it caused horrible stomach cramping so I switched.
by (2.4k points)

The only supplement I take is for muscle recovery after workout with weights. Otherwise, I would suggest increasing your water intake. Water has great benefits. Drink ounces equivalent to 1/2 your body weight. For ex. Weight 100lbs, drink 50ozs daily.

Apple cider vinegar. What benifets does it acheive?
by (820 points)
@filigreed8 hasn’t worked for me but then I’m not taking ACV to loose weight but rather to build up my immune system
by (3.5k points)
@filigreed8 There are all kinds of benefits that different website claim online no weight loss is not one that anyone here can say oh I’ve lost Ex number pounds because I drank vinegar. It’s all mental.

by (2.8k points)
If it worked then taking it without changing eating habits would cause weight loss. I can tell you it did not. Changing eating habits caused weight loss.

Have you ever tasted it?
by (820 points)
@filigreed8 awful! But it comes in pill form now!
by (1.3k points)
@norven I've heard it removes toxins from the body. True?
by (3.5k points)
@norven How much weight have you actually lost from taking pills?
by (820 points)
@filigreed8 not sure, sure works on nasty colds
by (820 points)
@durwin not a pound. only use it for my immune system
by (3.5k points)
@norven Right but there’s so many people on here who think apple cider vinegar will help with weight loss such as the original poster.
by (820 points)
@durwin I’ve been using ACV for 15 years. can’t say it helped me loose weight, but it does make me feel better
by (3.5k points)
@norven That’s wonderful for you but again I’m talking strictly about the original post. Weight-loss

I use the liquid ACV with the mother included. About two tbsps in boiling water, let cool, then drink it. When I have a bad cold , I drink it several times a day! Awful but it works. I also take the pill form daily. I haven’t noticed any weight losses at all. I use it for my immune system and to fight colds
by (820 points)
It’s hard on your  so I take the pills normally. If you take the liquid, brush your teeth afterwards

I take naltrexone and it helps with cravings of all kind (recovering alcoholic). Control over food cravings are an additional unexpected pro. And I take it after dinner and helps with late night snacking and helps me get to bed early and stay asleep.
by (550 points)
@promontory is this a prescription or over the counter?
by (1.7k points)
@boondocks Huston Prescription. I've also heard of people being prescribed Low Dose Naltrexone for chronic pain. Studies have shown that over time the pain subsides, or even disappears altogether. Originally helped for people who abused pain killers. It's a great option.

I recently started using Goli ACV Gummies. They are ACV without the awful taste. They're great with helping with my daily digestion, so much so that my husband has now started dipping in my supply!
by (780 points)
@most10 @pitchI think she's laughing at the fact my husband started taking my Goli ACV Gummies (dipping into my supply).
by (1.4k points)
Bad for your teeth and not probiotic
by (780 points)
@pitch These specifically don't mess up your teeth (trust me; I have sensitive teeth as it is) and I think the "mother" aids in digestion. Just what has worked for me.
by (1.4k points)
@sometimes6 not making fun and glad it helped you made me sick
