My mom is really wanting lasagna! We are both on purple for smart points. Anyone have a good recipe that is lower on points for lasagna? Thanks in advance!

There is a slow cooker lasagna on WW site. I switched out noodles to zero point noodles, as well as fat free cottage cheese, fat free mozzarella and ground turkey instead of beef. It ended up being 2 point per serving

Do one layer of lasagna noodles, next layer zucchini then third noodles. Weight watchers teaches us moderation. You can have anything just know how much you are eating. My thoughts are: Lasagna is a task to make. use ingredients you like because if it tastes like poop. you wasted time and money. Eat what you like but in moderation

@irfan I use all zucchini. My family doesn’t mind it. Just have to remove water from zucchini.

@atul26329 , I agree it is good. I am Italian so I like the real thing. I like savory food over sweets. So prefer pasta over desserts any day. but that’s just me. I make lasagna rolls using zucchini. pretty decent substitute.

@gorrian , please don’t take offense. I’m Italian, cottage cheese in lasagna, I have tried it and I just could not. swallow the food. Please please please, this comment is merely my own opinion. To each his or her own.

I will it ain't as good as ricotta but I can make do. I like the other cheeses better, but I like being slim better.

@gorrian , point taken. probably why I haven’t had lasagna is months! Lasagna is good. but so is shrimp parmigiana or eggplant parmigiana is you have that craving. Bake the eggplant. Good food can taste really yummy!

I know there is no comparison to the real thing but the Lean Cuisine lasagna with meat sauce frozen meal is actually pretty good if you just want to kill a craving. It's 10 points on the green plan, not sure what purple is.

No ricotta?

Try to use your own recipe and make some changes that will still leave the best flavors while lowering the points. I substitute the noodles with roasted eggplant or zucchini. I use fat free cottage cheese instead of ricotta. My own sauce that’s 1point for 2 cups. The rest is normal ingredients. Flavor is great.

I use wheat pasta 0 pts fat free cottage cheese instead of ricotta 0 pts turkey breast instead of pork 0 pts and low fat mozzarella for I think 4 pts per 4 oz’s I make my own sauce because the premade ones have a lot of sugar and additives. You might be able to find an organic sauce with less stuff in it.

Baked Zucchini Ziti 1 tbsp. extra-virgin olive oil 1 medium onion, chopped 2 garlic cloves, minced Pinch of crushed red pepper flakes 1 lb. ground turkey Kosher salt Freshly ground black pepper 2 tbsp. tomato paste 1 tsp. dried oregano 1 (28-oz. ) can crushed tomatoes 4 large zucchini, sliced into 1/4" coins (I cooked for about 4 minutes in microwave to get zucchini to release some water) 2 tbsp. thinly sliced basil, plus more for garnish 1 1/2 fresh ricotta 2 c. shredded mozzarella 1/2 c. freshly grated Parmesan DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 375°. In a large saucepan over medium heat, heat oil. Add onion and cook, stirring often, until onion is soft, about 5 minutes. Stir in garlic and red pepper flakes and cook for one minute. Add meat and season with salt and pepper. Cook until no longer pink, 6 minutes. Drain fat. Return saucepan over medium heat and add tomato paste and oregano. Cook for 2 minutes more, until slightly darkened. Add crushed tomatoes and bring sauce to a simmer, reduce heat and cook, stirring occasionally, until slightly reduced and flavors have melded, 10 to 15 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in zucchini and basil and season again with salt and pepper. In a large baking dish, place half the zucchini in an even layer. Dollop all over with half the ricotta, and sprinkle with half the mozzarella and Parmesan. Add rest of zucchini in an even layer on top, and top with remaining cheeses. Bake until cheese is melty and zucchini is tender, 25 minutes.
