If it was regular coke then you probably fainted because your body is used to getting all that sugar and your blood sugar was low. I mostly drink Crystal Lite but sometimes my body wants the caffeine so I’ll drink a Diet Coke. It satisfies the craving and I’m not getting all that sugar.

In my opinion : Unfortunately you are dependant on it, so over 2-3 weeks slowly decrease your intake and increase with water/carbonated water/ tea/ etc. You may experience headaches

When I 1st switched to diet. I did it by. 1/4 diet-3/4 reg for. Week. Then 1/2 to 1/2. A week. Then 3/4 diet 1/4 reg then full diet. Now reg is too sweet. But I do drink water. You need water in your body also. These are just ideas and what worked for me.

I really recommend flavor enhancers for water. DO NOT try to quit cold turkey it will make you sick. Try to half the quantity for a couple weeks and replace with flavored water. Then cut that in half until you get past the withdrawal. Soda is the mother of messup when it comes to cutting down.

You are probably addicted to the caffeine. Going cold turkey is next to impossible. Most oops have a non-caffeinated version. Try doing half and half to wean yourself off the caffeine. Once you do that, you can wean yourself off the pop.

Your body is ADDICTIVE to the caffeine You may need to reduce the amount of sodas you drink daily with caffeine. Drink caffeine free. drinks like 7up and gingerale between the cokes. and alternate with water over a week period to avoid possible headaches from caffeine withdrawal. To avoid taking into to many sugary calories you may want to drink sugar free sodas that still have that carbonated feels without the caffeine that ticks the brain. Hope this helps !

Maybe this will help. Years ago we owned a small grocery store. Often the night clerk forgot to turn off the burner under the coffee pots. I would come to work and find very burnt pots. I would let them cool, add some ice and some soda fountain coke, swish it around, let it sit and watch the burnt bubble up. I decided I never wanted it to do that to my stomach.

I got off soda for a long time. I started drinking flavored water (raspberry ice crystal light) I honestly didn’t even notice I didn’t have it at first. But once you have soda again it’s all down hill. I gave up sugar and pop for lent last year. The sugar hurt for a couple days. Then it was fine. The soda I missed horribly for maybe 30 days. After Easter sugar was back in and immediately addicted again. Pop didn’t even taste good. But of course I eventually drank it anyhow. It’s tough. You really have to decided to beat it.

@richy100 the protien shakes replace 2 meals a day, the energy fizz sticks replace your soda and/or coffee ( it give a subtle energy boost but not enough to crash later like with sugar) and it also helps to level out you blood sugar and keep it regular! There is detox tea which help keep a healthy liver and kidneys! Also comes with daily fiber for your shakes and a 7 day cleanse! Get out all the toxins but most of them will be coming out that first week! The first couple of days are the hardest for some people. But it wasnt for me I knew what I wanted and ran with it! Best part everything taste great! Not like other protein shakes. It's a wonderful program. You can go to my business Facebook page which I have sent an invite and the link to my arbonne page is in there as well.

I was the same way. I switched to sweet tea and then slowly backed the sugar off. I still use 1/2 cup sugar in 1 gallon but it was better than all that cola

Stop drinking it. Taper off by substituting diet cola made with stevia. For every cup of diet soda drink a cup of cold distilled water. Drink lots of cold distilled water and flush the toxins out of your system while hydrating your body. You will be able to feel your kidneys being washed clean. You will be surprised how much better you feel in just a day or two. I know because I used to drink Coke by the liter. This was recommended to me by a Naturopathic doctor. I have lost over 60 lbs and kept it off. I no longer drink any cola ever.

@hurlee why distilled water? Can you drink filtered water?

@asymptotic Distilled water lacks minerals which you kidneys have to do work to filter out. It cleanses your kidneys, as well as the rest of your body. That’s what the Naturopath told me. However right now considering how things are with the sheltering in place, I think filtered water would work quite well and give you almost the same result. No time like the present to feel better and get healthier.

I was addicted to soda for years. @asymptotic Smith is correct, soda is toxic and a definite deterrent to your weight loss. If you must, try some water flavorings that are sugar/calorie free. But they are chemical additives also. Learn to love water, maybe try alkaline water. I know it tastes best to me (although my junk food hubby would disagree). I’m not perfect about dieting, but I learned 20 years ago how bad soda was. I rarely drink it now, usually only a swallow of my husbands drink, and I mean rarely.

I haven’t read the all the comments but the best way to get rid of this Coca-Cola addiction is by cutting back gradually. It’s not only dehydration but an extremely dangerous amount of sugar that your body is suddenly deprived of, and an addiction to caffeine. That faint might have saved your life if you realize it’s a wake-up call. Water will taste good again when you’re no longer ingesting all that sugar and caffeine!
