I really need some help. I have an under active thyroid and weight loss and maintaining it are so difficult. My thyroid is checked on a regular basis and on thyroid meds. I’ve tried weight loss medication and it’s not working the way it should. Anyone have advice on something that has worked for them personally? It’s all around the mid section. I won’t go off doctor ordered thyroid medication so please don’t offer that suggestion. I love to walk but hate the gym. Thanks!
I really need some help.

I also have thyroid problem and on meds for it. I also take metformin for weight loss. Lost 50 lbs. Take the extended release so it won't give you diarrhea.

@counterclaim metformin is a diabetes medication. Yikes be careful with that one.

I incorporate 5:2 fasting and it has helped me lose a little. I thought it was rather drastic in the beginning, but tried it and it has worked better for me than anything else. I don't lose much, but feel really good and am happy with the results. I do 500 calories (yes, you would have to count) any 2 days a week that are convenient. The other 5 days I do WW Purple. The book, if you want to check out this type of intermittent fasting is Dr. Michael Moseley's "The Fast Diet". By the way, I am on 125mg Thyroxine per day, so know what you're going through.

I have under active thyroid, also. You might want to consider giving up gluten and dairy. I understand that gluten and dairy r hide to digest with thyroid issues. When I gave up gluten and dairy, I lost 50 lbs rather quickly.

I had to quit eating carbs. I found out about my thyroid being under active in 2013, it was so jumpy it wasn’t stable until 2017. I’ve just started losing weight. I did have a pregnancy 2017-2018 though. I had to cut out almost all carbs and eat a very high fiber diet. Make sure you are waiting 30 min - 1 hour to eat after taking your medication, you are taking it with a full glass of water, and are not taking any other medications for at least 4 hours (even vitamins). That will help your body absorb the medication the best.

Blue plan worked for me. I am also hypo. I would eat a low point breakfast and lunch and have a little more at dinner. I did have to stop having yogurt or any calcium for breakfast because it interferes with thyroid meds. My loss is probably slower than most. There were periods of three to four weeks where I haven’t lost, but didn’t gain! It takes time, and patience.

@adjournment31 great job! What are you doing to achieve this weight loss!?

Just sticking to Blue plan. I learned I should rarely touch my weeklies.

@adjournment31 thank you. I’m not sure what the blue plan is so I’ll have to check this out.

I track everything I eat. It's slow, about 1 pound a week so it takes a while.

I am hypo and I lost around 130 the first time. I rejoined last August to lose the 20 lbs I put back on. Just hit goal last week. It's a slow process but it works. I seem to lose more inches than weight. But it stays off the slower you lose.

Add Moringa to your daily routine. Look up benefits for thyroid issues. Vitamin defencies are the reason for most medical problems. It helps with weight loss. It helps with everything. Its amazing!
