I’m new here and I have a question. Does anybody on WW Do intermittent fasting? And if so does it help? I was doing keto, That was a big deal four people doing keto. But I also heard that inner minute fasting is not just for keto it’s also a good guideline for anyone trying to lose weight. Does anyone have input on the subject?
I’m new here and I have a question.

@suctorial I actually use truvia which I don’t think it does. But actual Splenda might.

I need food! lol

@egestion8410 you are still eating you are just not eating after whatever hour in the evening you decide not to and not eating again until whatever time in the morning you choose like either like 16 hours without food and then ate our food window like from 9 to 5 you eat which is almost like normal there's a lot of different ways to do it you either eat 8 hours in the day and 16 without or eat every other day which isn't the healthiest one but if you look it up there's tons of ways to do intermittent fasting and you're getting plenty of food it does help a lot as long as you eat healthy and drink a lot of water

It helps me when I hit a plateau. All you have to do is figure out an eight hour period that works for you to fit all your meals in & fast the other 16. I don’t wake up hungry so it works for me to eat breakfast about 11, lunch at 3 & dinner at 7. If you wake up starving, that won’t work for you but something will - think about the time of day you are less hungry. Everybody’s different. You can do ANYTHING if you utilize a positive attitude.

I've done it with and without. I lost the same rate so I'm not sold that it helps with weight loss, it is very much mental

I do 16/8 but eat between 7 am and 3 pm or 8 am and 4 pm. Helped me break through a plateau and get to goal.

I am doing IF really intermittent. Some days I have coffee and then my first meal about 11 and then I do my work out at about 1-2 pm and then an early dinner around 4. If I get hungry I have some popcorn and then try and sleep by 11 pm. I am down about 5 pounds since CoVid19. !
by (11.5k points)
@corydalis2 I was told by my nutritionist to always do my workout before I eat and it seems to make a big difference
by (1.6k points)
@simard229 I never did anything before breakfast! Now coffee and potty time and then workout!

I eat from 12-8 usually. IF alone wasn’t enough. Since adding WW I’ve lost 14 lbs ( started a couple months ago )

I was thinking about IF this AM. I used to do keto and was fairly successful with IF. Am going to start doing it a few days a week

Someone tell me how you’re not starving between 8pm-12am! I have never been able to stick with it more than a couple of days because I’m hungry outside the eating hours. ‍♀️ I’ve always wanted this to work for me.

@cypripedium7 thanks. I do IF also but but sugar free creamer in my coffee. I was in another WW IF group but left it. They were too hard core for me!

@damiandamiani there are so many different diet/nutrition camps out there and the hardcore ones are exhausting! I hear you!
by (1k points)
@chaparral they were so mean when asking a question!
by (1.6k points)
@damiandamiani oh that’s awful. At least Facebook makes it easy to leave groups! Lol

@chaparral exactly!

I do. I fast from 6pm to around 11-12pm. It fluctuates some days with our busy lifestyle but I feel it helps.

I fast when I sleep!

@makebelieve yea if I can figure out how to get 16 hours of sleep per day, I’d be a new woman!

Key is with all of this is no nighttime eating. The hardest part for most people. My husband pulls the chips out at 7-8pm and how do you stop yourself! Grrr

A lot of people do it. I am diabetic, I do not. Some people have success with it, some don't. I personally think it is silly and unhealthy to force your body into ketosis.
by (1.6k points)
@salespeople ketosis kindof scares me because it’s the precursor to ketoacidosis, which is all kinds of bad news. I mean if you slipped into ketoacidosis while filling the keto diet, would you necessarily know?
by (53.1k points)
@chaparral maybe, maybe not. But I imagine if it is bad for diabetics it is bad for everyone.

I eat between 12-8. it takes a little while to get used to it. but it definitely helped jumpstart my weight loss on WW and is helping maintain lifetime right now. Now I don’t even think about food until about 11 and I get up at 4:45 and exercise (before quarantine). It is a mental thing for me, I am sure some physical/medical too, but mental because I snack less because if it is outside my window. I won’t eat it! I am a RULE FOLLOWER!
by (1.6k points)
@kaveri I admire that! I wish I were a diet rule follower. I think I’m more of the type who wants it because they’re told they can’t have it.

I was stuck and couldn’t lose any more weight. I did IF from 9 to 5 eating only. I also walked 10, 000 steps per day and would up losing the last 6 pounds and now lifetime for a couple of weeks. I think it helped but not sure I could do it forever.
by (1.6k points)
@heartstrings242 I could definitely see using it in the short term for those last few stubborn pounds.
