Ok - I am very new at this. I don't get why a gyro salad with no bread is 26 points ?

Gyro meat is quite fatty. what else is there? cheese? creamy dressing?

It's probably from the gyro meat and the tzatziki sauce.

@chilcote971 tzatziki is mainly greek yogurt, cucumber and garlic. That’s not likely the reason for the points

Gyro is a combo of two fatty meats lamb and beef and it’s uses the fattiest cuts.

The meat is very not lean lol. You can get chicken gyro meat at GFS and it’s like 4 pts a serving

I used to buy the Gyro meat packs at Sam's club but it is ridiculous points. now I use Cavender's Greek seasoning. You can sprinkle on meat before you cook or marinate meat with the seasoning and a little greek yoghurt and BBQ them. then make homemade gyros

@lindner76 , Shwarma seasoning is great on chicken for gyros.

@lindner76 that's yummy seasoning. I found this one the other day at the discount store and it is so good on the 2 ingredient bagels.

It is definitely not the tzatziki sauce. Tzatziki sauce is so low in calorie that I use it as salad dressing. Gyro my is very fatty. It doesnt look like it is but it is about as fatty as you can get.

Do you make homemade tzatziki sauce or buy it

I have found that sometimes the points are logged by someone like you or me. Gyro meat is high in points, but 26 without a wrap seems excessive.

It's the way it's processed. Higher sodium and fats and probably hidden sugars.

Lamb is my favorite but I think what is probably the most fattiest meat. The sauce they put on it.

That is ridiculous. No way.

When there is a generic entry like that in the database, they assume a standard preparation. Not only does the meat fall into the higher fat/points category, there is cheese and a dressing made with yogurt and sour cream (full fat versions). If you make your own, you can definitely make swaps for more point friendly ingredients. You could also check out if there are restaurant specific ones you could customize This is just one more example of the lie we have been fed that “salad” is healthy. (It is till they put all the high fat/sugar stuff on top)

If I compare just the meat - it is 11 points - lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, very little feta, and tzatziki sauce is 3. So should I just enter it like that - 15-17 points ?

I put the feta and tzatziki on the side, using very little.

Creaming sauce and cheese
