I signed up, I have the shopping list. How do you get started? I don't know where to begin. No ideas on what to cook. Did Keto for over a year but this is completely different. Any advice, tips and/or help? I just feel lost.

Scan things as you shop. It will be super helpful

Rule of thumb, lean meats, veggies, non-fat Greek yogurt, sugar free creamer, beans, and eggs are my go to staples

Don’t over think things! Find what you like to eat and plan! You got this.
by (760 points)
@shame thank you! Trying to figure this out with my shopping list.
by (3.2k points)
@chrysalid81 Yeah, it can be overwhelming at times. If you have the app, the scanner helps at the market. When I get home I write the points on the packaging to make things easier.

@shame great idea!
by (1.7k points)
@shame Better yet, keep a sharpie in your purse. If you are putting something you scanned in your shopping cart, just write the pts on the package. Saves scanning again when you get home.

The biggest thing for me is tracking and planning your meals. Make sure you have zero point snacks around for those cravings. Don’t ever be hard on yourself if you “cheated”. Enjoy your journey. Oh I also make meals I can freeze in individual containers for lunches. Usually really low points. Like egg roll in a bowl or zero point soup and the chicken taco soup.

I’m a visual learner, so I started by watching YouTube videos and following a few Instagram accounts for meal inspiration! That just helped me get excited  but overall, just dive in with foods you love. You’ll learn what’s worth the points and what isn’t very quickly, and then you’ll see how to make adjustments to keep your favorite things in the plan! ❤️

@nicki awesome! Thank you for your advice.

@chrysalid81 no problem! I did keto on and off before trying this. I couldn't handle the keto flu! This plan is so freeing! Just try to keep it simple. the first week for me was the hardest for meal prepping. But I'm on week 3 and it was so much easier figuring out the points and all that!

Welcome aboard! This is Nothing like Keto. This is something you can sustain for the rest of your life. first Tip Track Track and then Track again that’s the habit you want to start even 0 point foods and water. Love your zero point foods and build meals around it. Plan and prep is second bit of advise. It makes life a little easier when you can just go to the fridge and grab something you’ve already prepped. 3 walk even if it’s 15 minutes then 20. 7 minutes one way then turn around up it as you feel comfortable. So good for you. make time for you! Congratulations in taking the first step in taking care of you and loving you enough!

I started by eating chicken, salads and vegetables. Once I was used to the standard, I got very creative. It's amazing what you can put in a salad! Going crazy with vegetables and different ways to cook them. Grilling is my favorite.

Definitely instagram & youtube! After you start to get the hang of things you wont even have to think about what you eat! Good luck! You can do it!

I use a lot of the recipes that I find in the app. I too did Keto and still try to stay away from sugar and some flour. So I adapt the recipes accordingly. It’s super easy to edit the recipes in the app too. And then the points are calculated for you. Good luck on your journey!

Welcome! WW is the best. I have been a member over and over. I refuse to give up. Have 4 pounds to loose to get back to -50 pounds. And still a long way to go after that. Keep a journal. You are worth it and you can do it!

Thanks everyone for the advice and tips. Do y'all always eat breakfast?
by (1k points)
I do because I get really hungry before lunch if I don't and me super hungry is a recipe for disaster. lol

It's a good idea not to skip meals. Your body will hang on to fat if it doesnt get fed regularly. Even a smoothie. With so many zero point options it makes it easier. I'm about to join again. That's how I lost weight after #5 kid.
by (760 points)
@wycliffite22 are you still on it?
by (240 points)
@chrysalid81 no but I would like to join again. It works but it's a commitment. Its a healthy lifestyle. not a dirt really. You'll be surprised how you adapt

@chrysalid81 I always eat breakfast, In fact I eat the same thing every day so I don’t have to think about it. A half cup Kashi cereal, one banana, 1/3rd cup of milk. I have a hard boiled egg mid-morning for a snack - the protein keeps me full until lunch. Think of the first couple of weeks as a learning process to find what works for you.
by (1.1k points)
@chrysalid81 I always eat breakfast also. Its always scrambled egg with veggies or overnight oats. Keeps it simple so I wont skip it and get myself into trouble!

First thing I did was figure out the points of all the food I was currently eating. That will get you familiar with figuring out points. You will see if you just need to cut serving size down or find another choice. Start at the store mainly shopping in produce. Don’t bring things home that will derail you. Track your meals and snacks and stay in your points. While shopping choose low sat. fat, low to no sugar and high protein. You can do this!

Break it down by meals and choose 2-3 different options. Try to pick a carb, protein and fruit or veggies for each meal. Then plan your week based on those choices. Good luck

Find the things you like to eat that are low in pts. Alter the other things you like to help them have lower pts. Don’t eat things you don’t like just because it’s low in pts. Use fruits and veggies to bulk up your meals or as snacks

Start with something easy. Sauté a tilapia filet, boil a potato, and make a salad. Sauté in 1-2 tsp of oil, use lemon and Old Bay as seasoning. Use a low fat sour cream with scallions or soy bacon bits. And mix a salad dressing using lemon and one tap of oil. Total 1 T of oil. Fish is low in points and a potato cut in pieces and boiled is often a very large serving. Count your points and work backward. I plan my breakfast, then lunch. Always track your food and measure, measure, measure!

I find it's good to do some research. There are some sample meal plans for each option on the WW site. Click on myWW then "Starter guide". It has info to get you started. You can get a little booklet and write down some breakfast, lunch and dinner ideas. Youtube has a big WW community with everything WW for inspiration. Instagram is great for meal ideas. I am a visual person, so i like seeing how people prepare foods. Build meals around foods you enjoy. Egg and cheese on an English muffin with a sliced banana. I love soup and sandwich for lunch. I scan soups at the store or make my own. You can google anything too. For example "weight watchers breakfast ideas" and links will appear. There are WW grocery lists for many stores which you can google and print out.

I did keto too and just switched to WW yesterday. I feel a bit lost too but I think the green plan will work for me after keto because I am afraid of eating too much on the blue and purple, however, I think blue will be a good one to jump on too becasue lean meats are zero points, I think with purple i will over indulge in carbs.

Take the recipes you are used to making and like, and make them WW friendly. This will make the whole journey much easier for you.
