Not feeling very well the last couple of days and have done no meal prep or shopping! So tonight for dinner will be. drum roll please. HAMBURGER HELPER!  My question is, how should I track it? When scanned, it comes up as 3 pts for 1/2 cup. I can't figure out if that is packaged, prepared, with the hamburger, or without. any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Probably depends on the fat content of meat you use.

So when u scan the box it will say how many points (which is per serving) on the box it will say how many servings also for example if it says 4 per serving each serving 1/2 c that is for the hamburger helper only then u need to do your ground beef hope that helps

So this scans at 3 points per serving, but that looks to be the pkgd amount not the prepared amount, right? Should I maybe calculate out the prepared nutritional info and use that? I'm sorry, I'm usuall super good with this stuff, but this has me confused. Lol

My husband and I have the tomato basil hamburger helper relatively often. It's our go to on nights like what you describe. Because that version doesn't call for the addition of any cheese or milk I use the "as packaged" to calculate points. You'll have to then add in points for whatever type of meat you use. We use 99% fat free ground turkey so meat is 0 points. If I was using actual hamburger vs turkey I would use the "as prepared" values. Hope that helps!

Generally calories are for packaged ingredients, not as prepared.

So. I had 85/15 ground beef, and 1% milk. I used the calculator and settled on 9pts for 1 cup prepared. Yes, it's a lot for not much food but I only used 10pts for the rest of the day and I am fully satisfied. I even have a few points left for something sweet  Thanks for all of the help!
