Question

I have a wireless camera in my garage. Under video settings, I can see fine in low light. Under live view or motion it’s solid black. I have night vision disabled intentionally because of the IR lights. I do know how night vision works. I have a dim light on on the garage which should give it plenty of light, which it does when I’m looking at it they camera settings. It just doesn’t under normal operation. Any suggestions?

I think you need the night vision on to utilize the ir lights and it will produce the black/white night vision

Issue resolved with added light but it doesn’t answer the original question of why the video quality is so much better in the video settings than in normal operation
