Take the battery out if it’s plugged in.

@necessity Neither. I’ve been using Arlo Pro 2 cameras with the batteries in them for three years. They are constantly plugged in and exposed to the elements outside.

Our cameras are Pro and not pro 2

I kept my batteries for extras for my inside cameras.

@necessity I don't have indoor cameras, taking them out would be a waste

Marie, the cameras have overcharge protection and will keep the batteries in good health if plugged in constantly.

It is recommended to keep the batteries in

@bordeaux Leave them in. No harm. Power outage backup. The one against doesn't say why you should take them out.

@sansom if the power goes out doesn’t the base station go out too and stop all recording? Just curious, I haven’t tried.

@hornblende4 I have my router and base station on UPS's. Good for a couple hours. I should have mentioned that.

Ok cool, I need to invest into one. Any suggestions?

@hornblende4 APC is the leader and what most companies use. Find a sale though. I had a CyberPower years ago and that was good and lower priced. I have two APC Back-UPS 650. Router and cable modem on one. Other one has old router I use as access point to extend wifi range and Arlo base plugged into it. I have a desktop plugged into the surge protected outlets but not the battery backup outlets. Would only get 5 - 10 minutes if computer also running on battery. Because I only connect what I need for Internet I get an hour or two power from each.

My 5 cameras have been plugged in since December of 2018. No issues. Mix of pro and pro2 which use same battery and charger. Benefit of pro2 plugged in is 3sec of recording prior to activation. I've never seen Arlo say to remove battery while camera is plugged in.

OK thanks for advice. More votes for keeping batteries in than not, so I'll keep them in x
