by (4k points)
@gq50 just making monthly installment payments but it’s killing us- makes it so hard to pay in quarterly each year. which is why we can’t catch up.

@zugzwang i’m going to message you

@mozarab1541 is sucks I dread tax season. everyone is so excited and it’s the worst time of year for us- my husband makes over 84, 000 a year and we can’t get ahead we pay them 597$ a month and suppose to take 25% off each check and still live

@zugzwang did you Make Offer to Compromise, an official form? Look for Taxpayer Advocates in your area. Should be mentioned in IRS tax instruction booklet.

We are juggling 20k cc debt, 30k car debt and 35k student debt on 1 income making 40k. Best thing we have done is get a side hustle.
by (1.5k points)
Side hustle is the only reason we have been able to make such strong extra payments! This!
by (880 points)
@rizzi I’m trying so hard to side hustle but with 2 girls under 2 years old there’s not much I can do outside of the house

I am a stay home mom to a 3 year old! I sell things on eBay, amazon and poshmark. You can start by selling things laying around your house to gain some money. I can lead you to some YouTube videos from people who resell! Nicole States, Reezy Resells, thrift to travel, RNZY are good people to watch to get an idea :)

We were but I gave up being a sahm so I could work to help pay it off. I want to be able to be there for my kids in the long run so I’ll sacrifice this little time for the future. No regrets about it. Its hard to keep focus but you’ll never regret paying off the debt

Try not to get overwhelmed and lose focus. You didn't accumulate the debt overnight so give yourself some grace in getting it paid off . You got this!

Unfortunately that and then some :( But there is a light at the end of the tunnel, at least that is what I tell myself. Do you have multiple accounts so you can at least see a snowball or is it all in one account?

by (7.1k points)
Yup! We’ve been able to pay off 2 small cards just this year. Almost $3k, EF and $2500 in medical bills. Just gotta keep going and if you make a mistake don’t beat yourself up!

Even baby steps forward is progress. Celebrate every little step forward and daily review your budget and budget calendar to help you stay on track. YOU CAN DO THIS!

We’ve got over $100, 000 in debt of all kinds (not including mortgage-which is thankfully quite small) on one income. Thankfully my husband has advanced quite far in his career these last few years and we now have a pretty large amount we can put towards debt each month, but it sure does get discouraging sometimes! Side hustles, getting creative, and sometimes just trying and focusing on different tactics can help!

I have 2k in credit cards, 65k in loans. Idk when I'll be able to pay off the loans. The interest alone is more than what I can pay monthly.

I did! I enrolled in a debt management plan (which is NOT a debt consolidation loan) and paid $32K in 4 years. No dings on my credit. Single mom at the time. Look into Navicore Solutions. Reputable non-profit agency.

Not all credit card debt - $18, 000 student loan, $2, 200 personal loan, $1, 200 credit card and 1, 000 other debt. Single mama of a dancing boy (monthly dance fees are insane too! ) - it’s tough to keep focus and stay positive. You can do it!

Me . So hard! Would like a side hustle but my full time job is demanding and I can’t be committed to another job that requires me at specific days/times. No idea what to do. I’m here for you!
by (370 points)
@kalinda8 you’d have to find an unconventional or flexible source of income. A night job, sales, delivery, babysitting, tutoring, etc. I have a couple other flows.
by (1.1k points)
@estoppel I have babysat for years and thought about trying to pickup again but, unfortunately it’s not consistent income. I have tried sites such as Freelancer and Upwork but, all I receive are SPAM responses.
by (900 points)
@kalinda8 I sell on Mercari. It’s simple enough that it doesn’t interfere with normal work. You can thrift shop on days off for fun & then sell it.

Here. One income. My husband makes GOOD money and I'm like how are we not able to kick this when people making WAY less are able to pay off more in a shorter time? I don't get it.

@niemann230 same!
by (400 points)
@niemann230 it’s all down to discipline. We are going through the same  luckily it’s less than half than OP but still. We are not where we should be!

Yes, one income, kiddos and over $30, 000. $10, 000 in credit cards alone. It's really hard

Yes. single, 30k CC. small savings, but I recently found this group and the budget mom and I know that where I am today is not where I'm going to be in 6 months or a year from now. I am starting very slow and taking little baby steps because I don't want to get myself overwhelmed and quit. So my first focus is to pay all bills on time. That's the reality of my situation. But if you're losing focus maybe restructure things a little bit so that you will continue in any progress $1 less in debt is still progress. And that's what I will be focusing on and I hope you focus on that as well
