I've been dreading calling to lower my cable/internet/home phone bill for a while, but so many people have had success with it. so I figured why not. I pay $300 per month & there's nothing they can do to lower my bill! Really?

@
croissant,
I might call again and be more forceful with the confidence of knowing they worked with you did you have to speak to a retention department or just a regular cs?

Look into Trim. They call providers and negotiate on your behalf. If they don’t get a better deal you pay nothing. If you do then you pay I think it’s 30% of what you save. So if they save you $150 a year then you pay them 30% of that.

^^this! YoutubeTV has everything you need for channels for $50 a month. Just cancel everything else except your internet and bid those cable people adieu

You have to ask to speak to their retention department. The first person you speak to typically can do nothing for you.

Ask "What do I need to do to cancel my service? " They will transfer you to the retention department to try and work something out. If they don't transfer you , you can say that "you will talk it over with your roommate/spouse/etc" so you don't have to cancel right then and there.

Sometimes you have to tell them you are calling to cancel and then they put you through to another agent and they try to help you then.

Cancel. Anything you really love you can find on another provider, YouTube TV or Hulu, there are actually a lot of options! We also add things for the holidays (like hallmark channel) and cancel when the holidays are over.

We don't have cable, and we don't have a home phone. Our internet what my fiancee and I would do is once the promotional amount was over we cancel and set it up it the others name. So one year it in my name the next his then back to mine to get the new costumer discount. This year I just called nicely shared that I noticed the promotional discount was over and if there was any other discount or option they could do to lower the amount. And that worked.

Comcast called our bluff a couple of years ago. We’ve been without cable ever since. It hasn’t been a big deal at all. We use Amazon Prime and Sling.
