I’m going on cruise where I’ll need a couple envelopes with me at all times and a card. I need a light purse to carry those in. I currently can’t wear anything across my chest and I don’t prefer wristlets. What do you recommend?

Disney! I have lanyard for my card, but I don’t necessarily want that on in the pictures. With tips and going to different ports, I wanted some kind of a purse/bag.

How about getting one of those plastic pouches that people use at sporting events that go on the lanyard that people keep their tickets visible? I have one from my favorite sports teams and they tend to be wide and vertical. I now use for concerts and other sporting events! I'm going on a cruise too and this seems like a good idea for that too! Thanks for the post

You can get a small crossbody and make the strap shorter and just use like a normal purse. I have this one it’s super light. And fits a good amount of stuff. Cause you need your card, cash tips, phone, I’ve even put my cord and backup charger in it.

Im new to cruising. I saw that I can do that, but what about room service? It seems like that’s separate. Either way, I wanted to be able to take it with me just in case. I can put money down attached to my card to pay for things, so that helps.

They make more fashionable less bulky styles of "fanny packs" now that isn't bulky. But honestly, with your limitations of no cross body or wristlet, this really is your only option that will keep you less likely to pickpockets and not be a pain to your fellow travelers with a backpack.

I saw some smaller sized ones in the Target dollar isle today. It's about half the size as the 80's version of a fanny pack! And a good neutral color too. It looked but enough for envelopes.

Oooh you know what I did in NYC? I have one of the runners belts that are elastic and have a small zipper pocket. In nyc I was terrified of getting mugged so I put it under my clothes on my waist. But that might be something to look into! They’re not very bulky and you can totally rock it if a fanny pack is too bulky for ya!

currently on a cruise. Not sure what cruise line you are going but I’m on royal. When checking in we had to have a card on file, and any gratuities or room service go onto our “sea pass” (aka our room key) any shopping on the boat done at gift shops or extra things purchased on the boat are just charged to the room and will be charged to the card on file at the end. We can also choose to set up a cash account instead of them having a card on file but I believe the minimum to have a cash account is 500.

thanks! Cash account is a little less but we can refill it. That’ll help for sure. When we leave the ship, it’ll be good to have some kind of bag then. Good I don’t have to worry about the ship then!

what are you sailing on? I have this. It holds plenty of cards and cash in it but can still fit in my back pocket if I don’t feel like having it around my wrist. It’s been a life saver for not only this cruise, but also anytime I am out that I don’t/can’t bring a purse (professional sporting events, concerts, out on the motorcycle etc)

Disney cruises are the best! If you wear a lanyard with your card, you really shouldn’t need to ever carry anything else while you’re on the ship. A fanny pack would be good for ports if you can’t do a crossbody.

There is a safe in your room. You won’t really need anything on the ship. Off the ship you’ll typically want a backpack or beach bag for towels and sunblock Take a little zipper wallet in that along with some cash and your boarding card. You can set up a cash account on cruise ships and charge everything to your room. You can pay it anytime or at the end. We used to pay each night in cash on the way to dinner but now we just keep it all in the safe and check balance on the tv to be sure we are on budget. We don’t spend all that much.

almost all cruises are cash free, but if we feel our cabin steward or other crew members deserve more than the daily gratuity, we put extra cash in to an envelope just for them. You can settle your balance (daily gratuities/room service/etc) before the end of the cruise by going to guest services.
