If the bells are on one side of the stalk? They are Spanish bluebells to the detriment of our national bells. British bluebells flower all round the stem

Blue bells, our woodland area of the garden has hundreds and they look amazing.
by (520 points)
What you see in the woodland is native bluebells, which Are lovely. What the OP showed was Spanish bluebells which kill our native species, and should be dug up
by (2.8k points)
@westmoreland29 I read a reseach paper that actually shows our native species is more fertile than the Spanish and is considered no threat. I can link you to the article if you wish.

I’ve just had these pop up in my garden to! Can I dig it up and move it?
by (2.8k points)
Not yet, let the flowers die off, they dont last long, and then you can dig up the leaves, they are tiny bulbs. Just trim the leaves off and throw the bulbs wherever you want them to grow.
by (820 points)
@oxley Dunn thanks. I shall do that!

They are bluebells. most people love them. they don't look like Spanish bluebells. i have loads of the Spanish ones as well as the native ones. the Spanish are far much bigger and the flowers and stalks fatter the ones in ypu picture look delicate like the native. i would nt kill them but it's each to his own

A way to tell thw differece between a native bluebell and a Spanish one is how the flower sit on thw stems. A Spanish one the blue flowers stand up more where as the native variety dangle like bells. If in wild your not allowed to touch the native ones. But on your own property you can. I would wait until its finished flowering and thenjoy move to an area you rather it grow. The bluebells in your pic are the Spanish variety.
