You can have flowers now if you have primrose snowdrops ( best buy them in the green that is got their leaves), crocus, summer there are many to choose from perennials cheaper in long run though I have annuals as well which I collect seed from, my wallflowers flower from summer through winter still in flower now, heathers can bloom different seasons lots of different colours herbs are easy to care for so things like oregano, lavender rosemary chives bonus of fresh herbs for kitchen cooking, look out at the magazine stands in shops atm as lots of free pots of seeds worth price of magazine, beg cuttings or young spare plants from friends etc, go to plant sales local WI etc might do to keep prices down
