I have 13 flower boxes at my new house and am clueless on what to plant in them. Seems like everything I like will break the bank. Any suggestions?

They'd be great for herbs, the smell would be amazing and you'd have a great supply for cooking!

To save you pennies in the future buy perennials, and maybe keep 1 or 2 for herbs and wild flowers. I've bought a few from market place as lots of places closed.

Little bedding or trailing plants will be lovely and not break the bank

I just bought 7 tray of 6 flowers on market place pick up local for £15. 40 I got 18 snapdragon 6 begonia etc. you place your order online they give you a time slot to go pick up, you have the money in a plastic bag or envellope, your plants are waiting for you on a table by their door so no contact. I think this is a good price, went there before and bought alium and load of petunia. all the flowers I bought are for now but I am waiting for 24 chrysantems from qvc (dispatched) to plant now but will flower end of august until november. I have really no clue what I am doing but having a go

Where in USA are you? If it gets very hot, they might dry out really quick, so something that can deal with that, perhaps grasses, lavender or sedum?

Rock Heathers, African daisies, alpine plants and aubretia will all live happily in exposed areas and not much soil. They will all spread quite quickly too

You can buy bedding plants or perennials, or grow them from seed if you need to do it cheaply. Put pots on sunny windowsills or buy one of those plastic greenhouses.

I have grape hyacinths, and grasses. They are the gift that keeps on giving as the grass gets bigger I split it and when the hyacinths have finished flowering they have hundreds of seeds. This was early spring they are over now but I sew annual seeds of phlox and wallflowers. The grasses are always there though and move beautifully.

Lantana. It spreads, takes full sun and trails.
