Sound has been known to move on moles you can get things for your garden a bit like solar light but instead of light they give off sound and vibration when the sensor is triggered which are also solar powered

I've tried those solar vibration items for the moles and they don't work in my yard.

Itll become a massive cat littler tray if you do.
by (1.3k points)
@emeryemesis oh really ☹️
by (610 points)
@ophiolatry41284 Afraid so. I filled my boarders with it as a weed barrier. Big mistake!
by (1.1k points)
@emeryemesis same at my old house  had to get rid of it all
by (1.3k points)
@emeryemesis blooming heck lol ‍♀️ I’m petrified of cats too so deffo don’t want to be attracting them to the garden lol
by (610 points)
@ophiolatry41284 consider over seeding your current lawn with a more robust seed, they do exist. water in dry weather, weed and feed, after cut preparations.
by (1.3k points)
@emeryemesis yeah hubby has orderd some new stuff! But I know that the sodding mole will re appear and even with pest control to sort it it’s still coming back and causing huge mountains in the garden lol

Looks like pea gravel is going to have to be the option then!
by (1.1k points)
@ophiolatry41284 I've now got a weed membrane down and pea gravel (decorative aggregates online are still delivering)
by (1.3k points)
Do u have a picture? I just don’t want it to become bland! I’ll add some plants in tubs but so hard! As the grass is just missing in massive chunks! And we have such a nice view would be nice if our garden matched
by (1.1k points)
I'll try remember in the daylight
by (1.1k points)
Astro turf?
by (1.1k points)
Decking on part?
by (1.3k points)
We did think about that but I’m not keen to be honest x plus I think for a decent quality one will be a lot of money and our garden is slanted so I don’t know how the drainage would work! It slants towards the house

It becomes a cat litter tray  I know from past experiences! It also rots down

View from our garden would be nice to have a nice garden to sit in and admire the view x
by (630 points)
@ophiolatry41284 beautiful view you have.
by (1.3k points)
@apposition79121 we are very lucky to live in the countryside with lovely views x

What about decking instead of gravel? Or part decking/part gravel if you’re looking for somewhere for the dogs to go toilet still. Raised decking so you can enjoy that view? xx
by (1.3k points)
@goar3850 we have a separate part for the dogs to go toilet in and stay normally! But the kids let them in the garden when they leave the gate open and they like to run and play and dig huge bloody holes in seconds!

Worse idea ever with kids n dogs they’ll trail it all way through house lol x
by (1.3k points)
@item1 god never even thought about that! See this is why it’s good to ask hahah
by (570 points)
@ophiolatry41284 honestly I’ve been there , done that and wouldn’t recommend especially with kids x
by (1.3k points)
@item1 thanks lovely x
by (570 points)
@ophiolatry41284 you’re welcome x

I put Bark in my kids ‘park’ worst mistake ever as the neighbours cats used it as their personal toilet & kids were always coming in complaining of poo on their shoes when they didn’t trail it indoors. Maybe find a way of getting rid of moles? Like stamping on their tunnels to collapse them?

Try Exlax chocolate for constipation down the moles hole, apparently they hate it and go away, worth a try!
by (1.3k points)
@favrot thanks not heard that one tried everything else though! Think my neighbours think we are mad

Embrace having the animal. have you seen it? If not see if you can set up wat h groups so some am record it. fascinating creatures.
by (1.3k points)
@huarache60 as much as I am an animal lover I’m not a fan of it doing the damage it is to my garden!

Dogs can sometimes eat the bark and it can get stuck in their throats and make them cough and be sick

Can you not flag half and hence off some grass for the kids playing area. Doesn't have to cost, sure if you ask on your local page people will have flags they no longer want and are happy to give them to you

We have a mole and it's doing damage to our fruit trees and veg plot, it's driving me crazy. The sound repeller doesn't work, I've tried to trap it but it finds the trap and burys it. So now I've had to go down the poison route, last resort will be a JCB digger. Can't believe how much damage such a tiny little thing can do.
by (630 points)
@ineffective not heard of them, what are they and most of all do they work?
by (3.7k points)
@ophiolatry41284 moles stopped a season of play at our rugby club as players started going through the ground and getting injuries. How can a few moles defeat a rugby team for an entire season and hospitalise many of them . I don’t know but they did
by (630 points)
@forepart wow!
by (850 points)
I get them but I would never ever poison them wouldnt do it to no wildlife or domestic

Try windmills in the garden they don’t like the vibration that is given off
by (630 points)
@huarache60 McWhinnie we have 4 large horses running around and that doesn't stop him lol
by (1.3k points)
@huarache60 McWhinnie someone told us bottles on sticks! We tried putting one in every time one came up! It didn’t care lol
by (630 points)
@ophiolatry41284 I'm starting to think moles belong to Mensa, clever little creatures. Never heard of bottles on sticks though.

We did bark our garden and have trees large shrubs rambling roses fruit bushes around the edge it was like a woodland glade . It’s still barked but we have just added a large chicken run to the centre. Was very low maintenance we did membrane underneath to stop the weeds . Only minor issue was mushrooms toadstools first year but not many.

Dog poo and bark though it would get stinky. Patio an area off for the dog so you can poop scoop and disinfect and get some anti mole bulbs for the lawn.
by (3.7k points)
@ineffective we have a dog and had bark our dog won’t poo i. The house and if he can would rather not poo in the garden. But even if he did I wouldn’t say it smelt and I am quite fussy re such things. We now have chickens and I spray citronella for horses and poultry smells quite lemony zesty. Will be raked off at some point and added to veg patch as fertiliser and refreshed.
by (3.1k points)
@forepart We have a big dog who craps where he pleases as I think most dogs do. I poop scoop a bucket full every few days I couldn’t imagine that volume around the garden not being picked up each time he goes. I’ve just started composting it with starter enzymes.
by (3.7k points)
@ineffective I feed raw one of the big bonuses apart from health is it dosent bulk up in the gut and make big dog mess heaps. Which is lucky as I have a big dog.

Used to have one in my old garden with 6 cats. Definitely not a cat litter tray.

I did a lot of research before I originally barked one area of our garden. At the time I only had one dog and poo was apparently easy to find in the bark. It was not. It’s impossible to find it all. I now have 2 dogs. I replaced all the bark last year and fenced off the area for the kids to play and so the dogs can’t access that area of the garden. It’s the only way it will work.

I wouldn't bark it. We did an area and changed it back as was used as litter tray. Either keep getting grass seed on it or go artificial grass

Do not bark it one bit, we had a 30m2 area for the children as a play area. Became the neighbourhood’s cat litter tray. We’ve just literally had it turfed over last week)

It will absorb the dog wee, hard to see the dog poo and cats will use as a litter tray ‍♀️ . I would replace your real grass for fake if you have to xx

We had a mole in our previous home, I threw some cake crumbs out for the birds and think that attracted them so make sure there’s no food left out. We were told to put a garden fork in the mole hill to stop them coming up, or to Bury and singing birthday card as the noise keeps them away (the old birthday cards that sing happy birthday when you open it) music is worth a try? Fork isn’t meant to hurt them just stops them coming up that route. We kept disturbing the mounds and eventually moved on to the neighbour

I have bark on the children play area in my garden. I think it great and not had a problem with cats like other have said. But if you have dogs. I wouldn’t bark the whole garden, my dog has been trained not to go on our bark, I fell like with dogs using it as a toilet it would make it really start to smell and can imagine the poo being very hard to find to pick up

Bark looks lovely to start but the birds scrunch around in it looking for insects, have to sweep round every day.

Male dog wee is supposed to deter moles if none of your dogs are male and you have a fella get him to pee where the mole is x

Thanks everyone for ur amazing feedback x I think it’s a clear no for bark Hahahaha and the mole lives to see another day hahahah

Get one of these. We had one pop up accidently and it's only a bloody mole deterent! And it works. I wondered why we have suddenly no more moles! The roots make the soil taste funny and the worms taste different so moles hate it. Also trained our dog to wee in one area up the top of the garden and now we've laid new grass and leveled out the mini himalayas we once had
by (2.6k points)
It's a caper. Just look up mole plant. They are poisonous when chopped in to though and they self seed after flowering so u need to pick the seeds out. And Wear gloves and they give allergic itchy reaction if you get any sap on you. Well worth it in my eyes though. I have kids too and just tell them not to touch it x

I definetly wouldn't have bark, but apparently burying a radio in the garden gets rid of moles, they dont like the noise, so leave it on low until your sure they have gone. Worth a try ‍♀️
