Have you seen wasps near it? It does look like a wasps nest but it could be vacant. When its cool ( early morning or late evening), 1) tie a slip knot loop larger than your fist over your wrist . 2) place a large plastic bag or sack over the nest, 3) grasp the closed bag neck tightly then bring the string hoop over the neck, pull tight then secure with another knot. Take to some where in the country side then snip a corner off the sack (facing away from you) .

I had 3 wasps decide to build a nest in my shed. Everytime I spotted them leave I would remove the nest. 6 days on the trot I distoyed the nest. Had enough after nearly a week so i sprayed them with extra firm hold hair spray.

Wasps can be a problem but they serve a purpose. In particular they are pollinators
by (4.2k points)
Believe it or not, wasps do more good than harm. They play a vital role in protecting gardens and farm crops by controlling pest populations. They capture and consume insects such as flies, caterpillars and beetle larvae.

Just putting this out there for all the unnessacry insect murders: Wasps are also just important in the environment. Socialwasps are predators and as such they play a vital ecological role, controlling the numbers of potential pests like greenfly and many caterpillars. . A world without waspswould be a world with a very much larger number of insect pests on our crops and gardens.

@tabby39 Jackson i think people are already educated about what they do, but many are terrified of them, i personally do not like them, but best u ignore them, cus most will say and never do it
by (750 points)
@firstclass Clark I agree 100% with moving it safely so they can relocate, what I was more getting at is why would they need to be set on fire
by (610 points)
Ye it doesnt need to be set on fire. infact setting it on fire would probably end in tears lol.
by (1.4k points)
Im allergic to wasps but im not allergic to greenfly so I for 1 would kill the wasps before they kill me
by (580 points)
Play with fire, you're gonna get burned. They built a bloody nest on a bbq, what tf did they expect ‍♂️

Can’t believe all the pitchfork comments on here! As irritating as wasps are, they actually serve a really good purpose and eat tonnes of other pest insects in your garden and on crops. They also help pollinate crops we as humans eat. It doesn’t look very big, and if you’ve only seen one wasp going in I’d just wear gloves and a long sleeve top and move it.

Apparently the female wasp makes these to lay here ggs in. it looks like it's already done its purpose and there shouldn't be in occupiers in now, you will be able to just knock it off , I had the same thing last week

Just knock it off with the end of a broom. Go inside for 30 mins. When the nest is disturbed they will soon fly away and make a new home! Job done

Thank you for all of the comments! Yes I agree that’s it’s not really a BBQ, it’s an outdoor gas grill lol  and I did consider moving home! And yes shame on me for not using my BBQ frequently enough that it gave them time to build it  The nest is active. They are in and out of it right now! We are going to try a broom and then run like hell and hopefully they will move on!

Spray the nest at night time. You spray in day time the active n will keep sting you since they don’t die after they do. Spray at night then they all in n you dint get stung
by (560 points)
This is the correct removal. If your killing them. I would be too scared to relocate. can you actually do that with wasps?

If you have only about 10 then try wasp spray. I caught a couple building one in my shed a few years back. Was amazing to watch but they'd got about 3 inches built. I got the wasp spray sprayedbit at the nest they soon buggered off , got rid and job done
