Afternoon all.  Does anyone have any experience of laying artificial grass on either a sand sub base or concrete?Afternoon all. Does anyone have any experience of laying artificial grass on either a sand sub base or concrete? For those squeamish, look away now. I’m deciding to dig up the garden to make way for a lovely concrete slab. I know, I know, but hear me out. Our the past two winters our garden space has turned into what can only be described as a mud bath, despite extra drainage. This is where artificial grass comes in. Two of my four kids love being outdoors (whilst the other two would much rather play Fortnite and tell us how unfair life is). I’d love for them to be able to come out and enjoy the space on a more regular basis. The idea behind laying a concrete slab is recently we’ve had a little visitor into our garden who has now left but during his time taken great pleasure in digging many holes to climb out of and back into. Which I feel concrete would stop. I feel with such a lay down of time and cost that a sand and shingle sub base may only stop the pesky critter in his tracks for a short while. My girlfriend is worried about the hardness of concrete, although I believe you can also buy an underlay type product which should combat this issue. I’m trying to look for experience and guidance in both methods of laying artificial grass to see what others may think, but also any advice on attempting to keep rats out of the garden (we don’t keep any food or water out and our garden is tidy, just muddy). Thanks!

If you get rats again, call the council. I had to call once, and they were coming from the railway at the back of where I used to live, , plus they told me someone a couple of doors down had been feeding birds on the ground.

Please put some flower tubs or wall baskets out as a form of compromise. part of the reason your garden is so wet is because everyone paves over the front garden for the car space and the rear garden causing more flooding
