Anyone using audience targeting on Search? For example in-market "business services" or "advertising and marketing services" in a lead campaign for a Website Agency.

If you running a "Search Ad" campaign this Audience Targetting generally dont work also it narrows down the search. These are effective in Display and Video ads to make sure your ad only shows to those Audience you set.

@rage This is relatively new for Search. Google is running a beta test now to add B2B-target groups for Search.

It works well for me when layering with highly relevant kw strings

Interesting. May be you can share more of your learnings here?

@rosebud just like a regular search campaign but you select an Inmarket audience that closely resembles your product. Example from above- select “advertising and marketing services” audience and target kw string +google +ads +services Or +business +consulting +services

@carrington Thanks. Sorry, I was unprecise. I know how to layer (other may not, so useful to explain it here) - what interests me is how that works for you, how the layering impacts the results.

@rosebud as @gut114 says below. it focuses budget on google’s Inmarket audience instead of anyone searching for the terms. Sometimes it’s too small, sometimes it’s perfect.

Nice way to focus budgets if clients want to pull back spending.

Works good for me on keywords that were bringing in people who are not personas. Much more qualified leads by adding audience targeting.

Do you guys use ‘Observation’ or ‘Targeting? And do you make specific campaign for this targeting or add the audiences to a regular campaign with bid adjustment for the audiences in Observation?

@discontent All of the above. I have created campaigns before with board keywords but limited by remarketing audiences. I've also added lots of audiences to regular campaigns to for extra reporting, increasing bids and completely switching to targeting should we need to narrow spending on search that month.
