One month ago I started IP. This past week I switched over to ip alternatives. My coach had me eating 4 ip packages a day based off of my weight. How do I know when to switch to 3 packets? I currently have lost 20lbs. thanks for the help!

Ummmm I’ve never heard of that. I’ve always been told 3 a day!

My coach did the same with me. Switched to 3 after 3 weeks. I think it was to help me not be so hungry when I started.

If you are over 200 lbs you can have 4 packets per day on IP then 3 after u are under 200.

@poisoning Actually, that's only if your lean body mass is over 200 lbs. I think you can safely go down to 3 packets now. That is the norm for most everyone on this plan. Some coaches do invent their own rules.

I only used 4 pkgs during the first week if I was extra hungry.

I started at 258, and only ate 3 packs a day unless I was crazy hungry then I would allow myself 1 extra un restricted.

Other than the first week, if your GOAL weight is over 200 (not starting weight or current weight), you can have an additional unrestricted packet for each 40lbs of GOAL weight over 200.

I started on IP then switched to IPA once I had a handle. My coach had me eating 4 packets a day (1restricted and 3 non restricted) until I got below 200 lbs. then I switched to 3 packets a day(1 restricted and 2 non restricted). I lost 120 lbs and have maintained for 2 years now sticking with the program. I still follow IP rules but on a IPA budget.

@poisoning you can do it! I started at 285. My goal was 180 but my coach thought I should be at 165. I didn’t think I could do it but I did! I try to stay between 165-170 now. I’ve gotten down to 160 but it was hard to maintain. I’m 5’8 41 years old with 5 little kids. It’s hard no matter what your situation but you are worth it and you can do it!

@poisoning thank you so much! You won’t believe how much better you will feel! Don’t cheat and stay strict! Great job so far!
