I currently have a old Verizon fios actiontec router with 75/75 speed. I've noticed lately that my video has been a bit grainy and audio is choppy. I've also got a ring extender pro. Would it be better to add a mesh system to my current router or upgrade my fios service to gigabit speed with a g3100 router to resolve the issue? I currently have 4 ring cameras and 2 nest cameras on wifi

Verizon just came out with a new router which you can add stations to create a mesh if you need it. I would just rent a new router. I currently have the quantum router with a ring pro extender and that was enough. Upgrading to gigabit isn’t going to do anything. I have 50/50 service with an older ONT which I would need to upgrade to get faster service. If your connection is weak it’s the router not the speed of service.

@piggy81 thank you, I definitely don't want to rent it because after 20 months at 15 a month it's basically giving them free money and that dosent make sense to me. My Actontec router does have a wwan port so I think I can hook a mesh network to that.

@nepil sure guess just a difference in opinion. Money now vs later. In 20 months or less they might have better tech or maybe won’t be with Verizon and I’ll own equipment that only works with them.
