To me, my humble opinion, an indoor cam is a last resort in the event an intruder gets in. I rather have a couple of cams inside so police can potentially find the intruder. You as a consumer need to understand the pitfalls as well as the positives. Can a hacker get in. sure, but if you take the right precautions, no. they can't get in. An outdoor cam, wired or not, is an entry point into your internal network. So, someone can disable that cam, connect a device to it and then they are now inside of your network and take advantage of what they can. I have all my cams hardwired, VLAN'd off from the internal network, so if anyone unplugs one of my cams, then can't get into my internal network. Same with wireless devices. separate SSID that only has internet access. Guests have another SSID and so on. Yes. anything can be hacked, but if you stay on top of things you lesson that attack vector.
