Has anyone noticed that drastically increasing water intake has helped with weight loss? Right now, I typically drink 2 cups of black coffee, 2-3 glasses of water, and a Coke Zero every day. I do eat a ton of veggies and some fruit, so I know I am getting water that way. I have friends who aim to drink a gallon or so of water every day and the thought of that overwhelms me  I normally just drink when I’m thirsty and obviously that must not be a ton. However, if it does TRULY help weight loss, I would give it a try. I’ve been at a standstill for awhile. Thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I am a true believer in drinking water. Discovered this on Monday at the spa in Tahoe and it is delicious, he's with hydration naturally. Pricey but so good.

@slaty4005 be mindful that coconut water has no shelf life. Three days max and that’s refrigerated. Heaven only knows, what preservatives are in what you’re drinking to extend the life over three days. When I realised this my eyes were opened. Small steps now eliminating all the other preservative laden foods from my diet.

Drinking at lest 5-6 glasses of just water daily keeps your body feeling better. Better for kidneys, liver, skin, nails, hair.

All beverages count towards fluid intake except alcoholic beverages per WW. I personally drink Crystal Light all day.

Rule of thumb is to take your current weight and divide it in half, that is the amount of ounces of water you should be consuming daily. Ex. If you weigh 210, you should be consuming at least 105 ounces of water.

I just can’t gulp water or any other liquid. I try to sip as often as possible.

@disappointed I don’t like to drink really cold drinks. Room temp works better for me.

I can’t drink water in large amounts and I don’t like really cold water. I have an 8 ounce kids cup that I pack in my lunchbox every day. I am a teacher. I drink a cup full at the top of each hour 7-3. I keep a sticky note on my desk, I write the times 7:00, 8:00, 9:00. all the way to 3:00 and mark them off as I drink the water. This is what helps me and I feel like I lose more ounces on the days I get all my water in.

If I have to drink half my body weight in ounces of water; I’d need to fill a bathtub and sit there all day with a very large straw!

I’ve always heard 2 ltrs of water daily to keep your body functioning. 4 ltrs if you’re on a weight loss journey. Be mindful that you can drink too much water. It’s called hyponatremia. You can google or ask your doctor. Be mindful that if you’re exercising and loosing water sweating more water will be needed to replace what is lost. Also if you’re drinking all this water and you’re not passing it out (it’s been known to happen) there is another whole set of potential problems that can occur. Good luck going forward.

I like water and drink most of mine in the form of unflavored seltzer. I like the fizz. But at one time I totally depleted my electrolytes by drinking too much water. Moderation is the key.

Yes, I find more water helps. And I found that swapping the coke for more water (soooooo hard to do! ) helped more. 27 months ago. Feel like a reformed smoker and still ocassionslly have to fight the urge. But don’t miss the weight!

I keep reading about all the water everyone is choosing to drink. I suggest you make sure that one is not over doing it. There is a point that it becomes unhealthy. Water simply gives you the feeling of fullness and increases urination. I have yet to see anything in the literature that states it accelerates weight loss.

I have heard that if you allow yourself to become thirsty, you’re actually dehydrated. The color of your urine should be pale yellow. While a gallon is a lot, maybe try to add a few more glasses of water to your day.

Often people eat when they’re actually thirsty. So switching from eating, especially at night, to drinking water would reduce your calories and would result in weight loss. I’m a constant water drinker but even I don’t drink a gallon. That would be too much for me. I drink about 8 glasses a day.

I drink when I’m thirsty. Doesn’t seem to make a difference to me. I also don’t drink to avoid eating. I never go over in my dailies so weeklies and activity points just sit there. I drink a lot of black coffee so that’s my fluid intake.

Drinking water leads to filling fuller longer and hydration. Sometimes when we are dehydrated we tend to eat thinking that’s what our body is craving when really you need water! Also makes skin look nicer!

Water keeps every system in the body functioning properly. The Harvard Medical School Special Health Report 6-Week Plan for Health Eating notes that water has many important jobs, such as: carrying nutrients and oxygen to your cells flushing bacteria from your bladder aiding digestion preventing constipation normalizing blood pressure stabilizing the heartbeat cushioning joints protecting organs and tissues regulating body temperature maintaining electrolyte (sodium) balance. Giving your body enough fluids to carry out those tasks means that you're staying hydrated. If you don't drink enough water each day, you risk becoming dehydrated. Warning signs of dehydration include weakness, low blood pressure, dizziness, confusion, or urine that's dark in color. So how much water should you drink? Most people need about four to six cups of water each day.
