So a friend of mine suggested going gluten-free after a bread story I told her. My problem is, I ❤❤❤ the 2 ingredient bagels. I make a big batch every other Sunday and have one every week day. So my question is, does anyone know if there is such a thing as gluten-free self-rising flour?

If I can ask, what is your reasoning for going gluten free? Unless you have siliac, I’m not sure it’s worth it.

@east4, 3 weeks before my wedding (over 20 years ago), I did 2 weeks straight of Adkins. The week before the big day, my gown fit beautifully. The week leading up to my wedding, I added half a bagel to my breakfast. In 5 days I had the equivalent 2 1/2 bagels and had to double suck to get my gown zipped the day of.

@elastin3 I get it, I just don’t think it’s sustainable, at least not for me. That’s the thing that drew me to WW, it teaches a sustainable lifestyle of better choices and portion control. Good luck in whatever you decide!

@east4, I love the Waw program too. I am just taking a shot in the dark. Might not go completely gluten-free but I can make small changes.

I’ve used almond flour to make them

@retrogress I am curious how you used the almond flour. I have been trying to switch to almond flour in recipes because of being diabetic. Can you share how you made them, please?

@footstep I used this recipe, but substituted regular flour for almond flour. I used prob a half a cup more almond flour than what recipe calls for. Texture/consistency was different when forming the bagels, but once baked it was like the typical bagel/roll.

If you choose not to use self-rising flour, just add baking powder.

Gluten also causes inflammation. I am in pain all the time from inflammation and need to try gluten free but it is so hard. I am allergic to anti inflammatory medication.

I make gf dough all of the time. I make my own gf flour mix (cheaper and just as good if not better than premade): 2c rice flour, 1/3 c tapioca flour, 2/3 c potato flour, 1 Tbsp xanthan gum. I multiply the recipe so I always have some around. When you make your 2 ingredient dough, use a tsp if baking powder per cup of flour used. This works very well for me. Almond flour is much higher in points, so watch out if you use that.

@tizzy it’s equal parts. 1 cup of each makes 4, 2 point beagles.

You can use GF flour and just add salt and baking soda or baking powder. Skinnytaste has a great GF recipe attached with the regular 2 ingredient recipe.
