Don't let COVID be another excuse to not lose weight! It will be harder, but not impossible. Stop letting everyone who is gaining make you think it's okay for you to do the same. We can all lose this weight in spite of the difficulty it's presenting. Can't find fruits and veggies? Walk more -- hell, walk to another market and see if they have some. -- DO NOT USE THIS AS ANOTHER EXCUSE TO GIVE UP! -- I know some of you don't want to hear it, but maybe you're the one who needs to hear it the most.

Sorry after working full time as a nurse and homeschooling my 3 kids I'm giving myself a pause. The stress is too much right now and I try to watch my food but not my focus right now.

I think so many people have given up , it’s hard to get them back on track , I’m still tracking and doing what I need to do , 10 lbs to goal , it really hurt to know so many people are struggling and you can’t help them

I’ve lost 8 lbs this month by walking more and watching portion sizes. It is the mindset.

We must be mindful that everyone’s situation is very different and we are all doing the best we can with our circumstances. I joined last week, cannot do any cardio exercise because of an injured foot, but am finding the down time easier to make healthy decisions (-8lbs in one week! )

Don’t give up. Keep moving/eating the right foods and together we can do this. Just trying to stay the same. If we mess up today, start over tomorrow. We r WW strong‍♀️

I have lost weight (I am on lifetime). Seems that we were eating out 3 to 5 days a week. Cooking good meals at home with lots of veges and fruit as snacks is a big help.

I am playing with the same 5lbs. But I'm thankful I am not doing worse. This week I am on a mission to get past the stay the same point and stay on track!

How about no judgement. You do you. Congrats you can keep on track. You don’t know anyone’s circumstances, so how about empathy. For those on track that’s awesome, for those struggling many are with you. To the essential workers, thank you. To the members whose families lost members, I’m so very sorry for your losses.
by (330 points)
@mordant some people hate judgement. Some people thrive off of it. It’s all a mentality game. If losing weight is a chore you will see it as an additional thing to worry about on top of all this. If you can shift it into your escape, something you can control, and a little exciting. maybe then it’ll feel more attainable in times like these. ‍♀️ I can’t speak for you or anyone, but I know for me I was seeing all those posts about gaining and *almost* talked myself into thinking it was okay to use this as another excuse to gain again because it was “okay”. There weren’t enough posts telling people to snap out of that thinking, so I did it. There’s tons of posts making everyone feel okay with gaining, which is cool for some, not this one though.

That’s great for you. I am still on track, but I don’t assume to know their situation. Maybe they need empathy, but it’s not my place to lecture them to not use Covid as an excuse
by (330 points)
@mordant lol I'm not lecturing every single human who happened to scroll past this. If you're not using covid as an excuse you can assume this is not directed towards you.
by (980 points)
@mordant she wasn't judging. Her statement was a reminder how a lit of us use circumstances to eat, that is how we all gained weight. EATING! I took her comment as a positive one to have us keep focus on our journey. She was not speaking about the tragic kisses that have occurred. I'll judge, I think you are being a bit too sensitive and critical. And as you said, you do you, I'll do me. And a little advice on your commenting, as my mother taught me, if you don't have anything nice to say, then don't say anything.
by (1.4k points)
@bough704 then take your own advice. Nothing I said was rude. I know many ppl affected by COVID being from NY. Many have lost income and are struggling getting regular food. So in comparison, stating using COVID as an excuse is judgmental.
by (1.4k points)
@bough704 my comment was uncalled for? Ok, my comment was anything but. It was a reflection of assuming ppl were using it as an excuse without knowing what they are going through. It’s called empathy, it matters.
by (980 points)
@mordant OMG do you think stating you are from New York makes your situation more serious than others? That's quite a statement taking into consideration so many people across the US and the world have died and to those workers who have done their jobs and contracted COVID-19. That's not what the post was getting into. She was just giving a statement that she was encouraging us to not use COVID-19 as a reason to go off plan. Take it for that and if you need to have a conversation about how horrible all of what has happened and still happening, has affected ALL of us in many ways. I'm happy for you if you are doing well on WW or if you are not I hope you can receive encouragement to take care of you as best as possible and continue your journey
by (1.4k points)
@bough704 No, stating I’m from NY where we have the most COVID cases is a fact. I know people caring for people with COVID, and guess what tracking points is the least on their mind now. The fact that someone says it’s an excuse is judgmental. Anyway I’m done. If you don’t get it, then that’s on you. I truly hope nobody you know is affected, and is not able to stay on track.
by (980 points)
@mordant Actually my son is waiting for his test results to come back. I have many nurse friends who had no PPE and I sewed masks for them even though they weren't the best for them. Everything is walking their own way through this. It's not a contest about New York or who has the most cases. It's everywhere. And I hope everyone gets over this well and healthy.
by (1.4k points)
@bough704 never said it was a contest. My point was there is a pandemic going on, people are dying, and yes some people in WW are having a hard time staying on track for whatever the reason. Instead of chastising for using COVID as an excuse, why not try some empathy. And if you read my post I have stated thank you to essential workers, and to those who had struggled because of family loss. That is my point! Awesome if you can stay on track, but don’t judge those who have not been able to for whatever the reason. lack of income to buy food, stress of being an essential worker, caring for a sick family member, whatever the reason. Empathy matters.

I just threw out my candy stash, so I'm starting over today, reminding myself why I started this, for my health, and to focus on "free" foods, like at the beginning. I have only list 11 lbs since January 1 but it's 11 I haven't gained! Thank you for your post!

@somewhat the key is filling it half way so it doesn’t get on the floor while you “swim”

Thanks for this post, I needed this! I have gained 3 pounds. was 0. 7 from goal in the middle of March and then Covid. No excuse. I let some old habits creep back in. I am working hard this week to be down by my Saturday weigh in. I know what I need to do.
