Do you ever look at weight loss pictures of people or yourself and think they looked better and/or younger before losing weight? Please tell me it isn't just me? Don't get me wrong, we are all better off without the extra weight!

Sometimes I think if my face was fatter, it wouldn't be so wrinkled and my turkey neck wouldn't be so bad. But then I realize how much healthier I am after losing 170+ lbs., so it's okay to have the wrinkles I guess.

No pictures, but I know that with age that skin just doesn’t “snap back “

Yes it’s because at times people’s face where fuller when we are more plump ‍♀️‍♀️it’s smooths wrinkles! Ugh!

Yes. For me my face looks younger with weight on it.

Absolutely. Unfortunately losing a LOT of weight makes some people look older/worse. That’s a big reason why I’m personally not setting my weightloss goal to “skeletor” ‍♀️

Not usually unless someone gets REALLY thin and looks sickly.

Yes, because the wrinkles are no longer puffed out by the fat, it sucks, but pick your suck, you know?

I think a lot of problems with weight loss is caused by the look of the loose flabby skin many people are left with. Wrinkles appear when the face goes thinner because the fat plumped them out and these wrinkles age the person. The flabby skin on the tummy etc never tightens up and has to be surgically cut away at quite a cost because it can't be done on the NHS.

I’m glad you asked! I have thought that about myself as well as some of the photos I’ve seen! There was a post the other day and I almost commented on how beautiful she was on the before photo even though the weight loss was definitely noticeable

That’s exactly why I’m not going with the weight I should be according to the charts. I lost @55 lbs and maintained for a year, working out and seeing how much my skin tightened up. Now I’m going to lose 10 more and see what I think. If I look old I will seriously put the weight back on, lol.

by (3.6k points)
@stool well I think people look healthier and happier so post away ♥️
by (4.6k points)
@stool post pics, i think everyone who wants to should because you should be proud of your hard work. i'm proud of myself but i am seeing the loss of lbs aging me. I won't let that thought sabotage my progress though. i really didn't want to sound "judgy" when I asked it but I'm glad i'm not the only one that thinks it is slightly true in some cases.

Well. It takes time to lose weight. So you are technically going to be older from the first heavier picture to the 2nd lighter picture.
+45 votes
by (53.1k points)
Yes it happens to some people. With people I've noticed it on, it is when they lose the weight fast. Their skin doesn't have enough time to snap back. It is why I am taking it slow, staying hydrated and eating a little dairy on a daily daily basis. You can Google or pinterest foods that will keep you skin looking young.

I'm rolling because I just posted a side by side pic here and I'm thinking. I wonder how many people think. don't lose the weight, you're going to look rediculous.  But there's not a huge difference so I'll still chug on. hopefully. Lol
by (4.6k points)
I really didn't want to sound "judgy" when I asked that. I have noticed in myself that I'm losing but aging and it sucks but it won't stop me from trying to lose the weight.
by (10k points)
@hassler390 I personally never have thought that when looking at a person that has lost but I have thought that about myself. I really steer clear of the camera. Do trying to be more positive about myself.

The pressure off the joints, feeling better than I did when I was in my late twenties, not having heartburn, being able to sleep comfortably, loving how my clothes fit, and just being able to do so many things I couldn't before has been well worth the wrinkles that came with my weight loss. I can either feel older and look younger in the face with the extra weight making me feel bad, or feel younger and look a little older in some areas. I'll take my new found wrinkles and the renewed health over fat that weighed me down and depressed me every single day. These are my driver's license pics for a true and untouched before and after.
by (1.3k points)
@agrarian5285 you don't look like you have wrinkles and your skin looks very smooth not blotchy like your heavier post so definite improvement.
by (1.2k points)
@dreamy , thank you! My overall skin health has improved so much! I'm 47. Before I lost weight, people guessed me as much younger. I am a very expressive person with my face. The bigger my expressions, the more the wrinkles show. Lol! But I've learned to love them! A badge of honor in my journey. ❤

Sometimes though I think the opposite is more. So many people I see look about 10 years younger! Could be the way they are holding themselves, their more trendy clothes, their happier smile? Who knows.
by (1.5k points)
@recruit could go either way but I’d rather look a bit older and be slimmer.

Sometimes. For me, when I'm heavier, it makes the circles under my eyes more obvious, because my cheeks are puffed out around them. (And these circles have been a thing since I was in HS) When I lose weight, I have more facial structure.

My wrinkles are definitely showing up more and I have saggy skin on my thighs, butt, and arms. But I’m 63, so I can’t really complain about it. I just get annoyed when people post “after” pictures with a filter. They aren’t fooling anyone and I can’t take their progress seriously.

Sometimes it takes the skin a little time to catch up shrinking. And there is a point when you can be too thin I guess.

Nooo I really don't. I think someone can look as beautiful bigger or smaller. Someone may look older because they are older. But no I would never look at someone and think they looked better before. Wrinkles are a blessing denied to many and I think they have their own unique beauty to them. Roll on another 3 and a half stone and all the wrinkles that will come with it xx ps I do love a chubby baby and totally get that this is a general post and not a dig at any one person particularly so no judgement here

I think it really depends on your age, and how you took off the weight. One of my aunt's had the bypass, she lost a lot of weight, fairly quickly, and I believe she lost 125 to 150 pounds overall, while she looks great, she does look much older than she is.

Yes age will show in your face when there's weight-loss. That's why people get fillers to look youthful.
by (16.6k points)
@mastermind no needles for this girl. Ick.
by (350 points)
@snip0 it also depends on how much you have lost and your age. I think the older you are combined with a decent weight loss the age shows more. Maybe you're not that "old" and had very good skin to begin with. I don't know but every person is different. I do know that when I lost 40 lbs I looked tired.
