I do the 16-8 method everyday. Really simply put you just don't eat after you've eaten supper. If I have supper at 5pm then I won't eat again that night, I go to bed by 10pm and get up around 7. That's already 14 hours. so I eat around 9am. I don't find that it helps me lose weight per se rather it helps me to not snack and gain weight :P
by (1k points)
@drawers5 I agree completely. I don’t find that it helps me lose weight I find it that it helps me with not picking after dinner when I’m bored.

Not on Weight Watchers. Are you talking skipping meals? That won’t work.
by (120 points)
@heritor how do you guys keep from being hungry?
by (860 points)
@hunfredo it’s funny, because the longer I’m able to fast, the less hungry I am. I actually feel good when there’s no food in my stomach. Then I start by eating zero point foods, lean protein, fruit and veggies, and eat until that satisfies me. Usually 3 hard boiled eggs, and diced banana, cantaloupe, watermelon, strawberries and pineapple. And celery, cucumbers and carrots! And a big glass of water.
by (120 points)
@heritor thank you!
by (860 points)
@hunfredo you’re welcome! Let me know if you have any other questions!

There is a group for those of us that fast. You'll find some tips in there. :) Also there's an app, Zero which will help keep track of your fasting hours.

@original1365 what’s the name of the group?
by (490 points)
@original1365 thank you!
by (6.3k points)
Hi everyone. The name is intermittent fasting on WW lifestyle. The admins are removing the link to the group.
by (500 points)
@original1365 thank you. I’ve been IF for two years and have been stuck for almost a year. I just joined WW to see if I can break the plateau. I love IF and want to combine the two.

I was just approved to join. I want to scroll but have work to do. Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.

Yes I do. I find that it helps. I don’t skip meals. I do the fasting from like 8pm to 8am. I find it helps especially with snacking at that time. I use the life app to keep me accountable.
by (1.6k points)
I am WW-blue and have reached my goal. I am trying to find information and groups to help transition to maintenance. I am currently locked into a timed WW subscription so I can't change to meetings until pandemic isolation is over in NY and my termed membership is over. What is the Life App that you mention? Anything else or groups you recommend for maintenance advise?
by (1k points)
@astro the life app is a free app on my phone it pretty much times my fasting keeps tracks has some articles. U can download it and add me as a friend. A coworker who was not on ww had recommended it and I love it

I have been doing intermittent fasting and weight watchers since January 6th and have lost 43 pounds. I do intermittent fasting strict Monday through Friday and on the weekends I may go over by an hour at most.
by (1.2k points)
@gunyah Landsman Thank you. So you eat anytime between an eight hour period only?
by (2.6k points)
@gunyah Yes I eat during my 8 hour window. On weekends I may extend it by 30 minutes to an hour but only on weekends.

Yes I do. I do 16-18 hour fast giving me 6-8 hour windows to eat depending on which I pick. With fasting I don’t skip meals. If I do 16 hour fast I normally have my last meal of the day by 6pm so I can then have breakfast the next morning by 9am, then lunch, then dinner by 6pm and re-start my fast.
by (2.3k points)
@decimalize if I have coffee this morning with 1 tsp of coconut oil does that break my fast?
by (1.1k points)
@agle80973 from my understanding it does. It had to be straight black coffee or tea. Can’t have any sweetener of any type.
by (2.3k points)
@decimalize that’s what I thought! I’m still going to try though! From what I understand about clean IF you can literally heal your body from the inside out!
by (1.1k points)
@agle80973 yes I been doing it since June of last year. I’ve completed to date 270 fasts. Some have been 10, some 12, some 14 hours especially when I have splurge days. But overall I do 16-18 and occasionally if I have a splurge day I go longer like yesterday I went 21 hours. Today I’m doing my normal 18.
by (2.3k points)
@decimalize that’s great! I’ve done it kinda off and on! I can try try again! Have a great day

@uraemia E Souther I’d like to be a part of that group. What is the name? I have completed 8 fasts and feel more in control of my choices and lost four pounds. I no longer feel hungry and have the desire to eat the moment that I get up. I also do not snack as frequently. Still use my daily and weekly pts.
by (2.8k points)
@uraemia E Souther I would like to join this group as well. Can you invite me  or tell me the name so I can request an add. Thx
by (1k points)
@headboard27 Wilborn If you have a lot of questions, that group can be very mean! I left it after asking a question and was told I was supposed to read all of the announcements before asking to join the group! I did read them but had an additional question! by (490 points)
@manzano18058 do you do WW too or plan your own meals? I’d like to start doing this and those hours sound great! Will you share?
by (2.3k points)
I do WW. the purple plan. I lost 40 pounds between when I joined on Nov 20 2019, up to March 18th (when covid turned things upside down for a while . back on track this week) When I get up I make an iced coffee or tea. Lately it has been the crystal light iced tea 1st meal is always. oatmeal/pb powder/brown sugar/banana/water/ and almond milk (I like routine . and I love this breakfast. LOL sometimes I will add in a tsp of cocoa powder) Snack (around 2 pm). plain air popped popcorn. or popcorn with some light butter. Diet coke. sometimes I switch out the popcorn for fruit salad (packed in water) with sf jello Dinner around 5pm. my favourite dinner is what I call turkey/sweet potato mash. Ground turkey meat, cooked with. onions, mushrooms, celery, and sweet potatoes Another meal I like is a bag of cole slaw mix (chopped up smaller than when it comes out of the bag). mix in onions, bacon bits, and a dozen eggs. pour into a 8×11 dish. bake at 350 ° F until the eggs are done. This makes about 6 meals for me. My drinks throughout the day are crystal light, herbal teas, and diet cokes.
by (490 points)
@manzano18058 Want to try your breakfast. How much oatmeal, pb powder, brown sugar, etc do you use?
by (2.3k points)
Here is how I make it  1/2 cup large flake oatmeal 2 TBSP pb powder (or 1 TBSP regular peanut butter) 1 tsp brown sugar -- above is cooked in 1/2 cup water & 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk (takes about 10 minutes to lightly bowl down and cook to how I like my oatmeal) The oatmeal then gets poured over a sliced banana and mixed together (that way the banana doesn't go mushy) On days I feel like chocolate. I add in 1 tsp of cocoa to the oatmeal while its cooking You could use sweetener in place of the brown sugar.

by (530 points)
@headboard27 do you drink coffee or just water during fast
by (720 points)
@congresswoman92893 i have never drank coffee in my life or tea, so fasting is pretty easy for me. I only drink water and take in some salt. if you're really serious about fasting, join the Dr Jason Fung facebook page, he is the expert and its very inspirational seeing the progress everyone makes. its the easiest way to lose weight by far.
by (5.3k points)
@headboard27 and for that one meal you follow WW and count points?
by (720 points)
@ferrocyanide94 no. I follow a keto diet. Low carb High fat. I originally joined this group to see how it works. But now see intermittent fasting is the best fat burner. Managing food is key as well but so many people have their own views on works best for them.

@pastry62785 Elaine I don’t mean to be rude when I say this but isn’t that what normal people do? I don’t eat after dinner then I don’t eat again until I wake up. Seriously I am not trying to be rude at all, I am just confused on how this is fasting? I’m ignorant to it.
by (820 points)
I think it depends how long you choose to fast for. I do 16:8 so I fast from 7pm-11am. So essentially I’m skipping breakfast. It works for me and believe it has helped with my weight loss!

@headboard27 It’s not just a fad diet. it really IS science! As long as you’re eating all your nutrients, you’re NOT going to die! I try to stick with at least a 14 to 16 hour fast each day. ( a bonus is, it really helps with acid reflux at night. )
by (720 points)
@remonstrant I bought the keto sticks online. 200 sticks for around $10. Real affordable.
by (1.2k points)

by (3k points)
@remonstrant careful taking medical advice from people. I can tell you for sure that @headboard27/activity" class="qa-user-link">headboard27 is not 100% correct with her facts. Notice how she is dodging questions of anyone that disagrees. I am type 2 diabetic and under doctor care with IF and WW as a partnership. The proof is in the lower blood sugars. It's been life changing for me. It will not work for everyone. Do research though, dont go by people just randomly posting with no connection or facts. Find what works best for you. @headboard27/activity" class="qa-user-link">headboard27 also does Keto which certainly has a lot of negative press.

@consolatory starving how ? Research fasting it does your body good to stop eating all the time The people who fast for religious reasons have longer lives. I’m not starving I’m fit and healthy and 50 I’m much healthier now then I was before I fasted I have excellent blood tests and good muscle mass. How are you starving ? As long as you eat enough the rest of the day no way are you starving lol me then and now and I run.
by (3k points)
@consolatory you’re NOT GOING TO DIE with this eating schedule! As long as you’re eating a well balanced diet and getting proper nutrients, you will be just fine. unless you have a specific medical issue that prevents you from doing this.

@jaysonjaywalk it won’t help you lose weight it’s for health The only way you’ll lose weight is to eat less energy than you need to live off
by (3.4k points)
@divine18413 eat less and burn more. You still need to eat enough to live or you would die.
by (11.7k points)
@drawers5 lmao How do you think we loss body fat ? We have to eat / drink 3500 calories less than our body needs to lose 1lbs of fat. IF won’t starve you you’ll eat when fasting times over and it’s centuries old. It’s well known researched fact that people who fast live longer It’s not good to eat all the time hence there’s so many digestive problems these last 20 years. You don’t starve if you eat your calories in the outside fasting time or I’d be dead been doing this 2. 5 years I’m the healthiest I’ve been in 25 years and the fittest I’ve less body fat and more muscle mass I run 3-4 times a week and I’ve lost nearly 100lbs and 100 inches So I’m 100% not starving or hungry like people who wake up starving hungry and have to eat ASAP. I wouldn’t eat when I’m not hungry that made me 110lbs over weight and depressed. That’s me don’t think I look ill ?
by (3.4k points)
@divine18413 your statement is a problem in logic. If you ate less than you need to live, than you would eventually die. Your body doesn't know time in days. So yes of course you could eat less in a day than you technically need to maintain your current weight, but if you continued to do so your metabolism would slow and eventually you would starve to death. I was merely pointing out the flaw in logic so that people don't think that they have to starve themselves in order to lose weight, it was meant to be humorous.
by (11.7k points)
@drawers5 If you want to lose fat you have to eat less than you need to live off You really need to educate yourself You don’t have to eat low calorie to do IF You can eat 5000 calories a day and do IF you don’t eat less than you need to if you don’t want to lose fat What group are we on and why are you on it ? This guy didn’t eat for 55 days drank water only week known documentary Muslims fast and live a very old age they aren’t slowing down their metabolism You can’t state it’s bad for you until you try it are you a doctor or scientist ? Can I have evidence it slows your metabolism I’ve lost a huge amount weight have you ? If my metabolism was screened why did I lose another 1. 7lbs this week week 90 ? You really don’t know what your talking about Most my fasting is done when I’m asleep So I don’t eat 8pm to 11pm Then I don’t eat 8am to 2pm Inbetween I’m asleep How does that slow my metabolism down ? I will continue to eat just 500 calories a day les a than I need to lose 0. 5-2lbs fat a week I’ve only got 16lbs left to lose. Sure I’ll be fine
by (3.4k points)
@divine18413 omg. Let it go.
by (11.7k points)
@drawers5 stop scaremongering You went on at me and I gave you facts You can’t be preaching to someone telling me I’ll die if I fast and my metabolism is screwed up So maybe in future you will stop writing scarey stuff on the internet that has no evidence. If you look at the comments YOU tagged me YOU said I’ll die You said my metabolism will be messed up YOU kept on at me
by (3.4k points)

I highly recommend checking with WW for their recommendations and/or a certified dietitian/nutritionist. Also before fasting, check with your doctor. Your health conditions, metabolism, etc is specific to you. What works for anyone who answers here may not work for you and cause you issues.

@coracle1912 fasting is not recommended by our WW here in Scotland, I thought I had missed something as we are only doing virtual studios with coaches just now because of COVD-19. I checked with an online coach first but ours only recommend the current three plans, green, blue and purple. Lots on here say it has worked well for them which is great, I’m sure they are in good health as long as the have not got diabetes, high blood pressure or heart condition. I couldn’t fast to save myself
