Just some suggestions for the newbies: Pick a plan and stick with it. Track everything. Learn portion control. Zero point foods doesn't mean eat all you want of them. Eat carbs. Whole grains are good for you. This is not a low carb lifestyle. Drink more water. Try to get in some activity. Look at the WW recipes. Find some fun stuff to make. Use your points. Don't starve yourself. Anyone else have suggestions?

I like to play with the recipes. You can edit all the WW recipes on the app so I’ll try add/removing cheese, switching from white to wheat pasta, subbing chx for ground beef. It helps to make food that I enjoy and still stay with in point. This weekend I made lasagna and found an extra 2 points of wiggle room (less and leaner meat, wheat pasta) so I could have a little bread on the side.

Meal prep Seriously this is my biggest advice— I know there are TONS of things that go into making ww successful but meal prepping has been my #1 lifesaver throughout this process!

@marlie I make all of my food Sunday for breakfast, lunch, dinner and my snacks! I portion everything out and then every night when I come home from work I just switch out all of my containers! It is SO helpful and saves SOO much time! And also, it keeps me grounded so I don’t go out to eat or anything all week!
by (340 points)
@marlie Yes! I would definitely agree with that! And it’s nice to know that it’s done and you don’t have to worry about it until the following weekend!

I was going to say meal prep as well! Always have healthy choices somewhere close. In the freezer, pantry, fridge etc. It is so easy to be hungry and grab a slice of pizza someone is having at work. But if I have stuff there as a small treat, my mind tells me that is a better choice. One point chili and a fiber one bar is a lot smarter than that slice of pizza. If I dont have them with me, then hunger wins.

@alonzoaloof I’ve tried doing this, but then I get scared it will go bad  plus we never end up eating it all. I just threw away a quarter of a WW casserole, 4 turkey muffins, and a little chicken salsa mix

@titos9 I portion out just enough for what I’m going to eat/serving sizes and then freeze the rest of what I have if I have any leftover! You might try something like!

My biggest piece of advice is to NOT be afraid or feel guilty for going into weeklies and fit points. They are there to use! I workout 4-5 times a week and earn 120-140 fit points. I use all of them and the weeklies. I've lost 70 lbs since July. And it's sustainable this way. I'm rarely starving and I never feel deprived!

I agree with everyone! My suggestion is if you go out to eat, whatever you order, eat half and take the rest home for the next day

I love my food saver for meal prepping! Can portion meals out and freeze them. If you grill hamburgers, chicken, or anything with it’s own juices, wrap in plastic wrap first, then food save.

Keep it simple. I’ve found some Weight Watchers and low point casseroles and tricks to be tasty but a lot are aimed at getting the most for your points and they get icky (just my opinion). I get discouraged when I spend a lot of cash and time on meals with a bunch of ingredients and they don’t turn out. Sometimes a well seasoned chicken breast and a side of vegetables is enough. Especially on busy days to avoid failure and reaching for fast food.

@unconcerned79816 I use my crockpot! I throw chicken in it with yogurt dressing or fat free Vidalia onion dressing! Delicious! No prep!

Keep fruit to one serving a day. and give your body time to adjust, it can take a week for it to catch up to all the good you're doing for, and to, it!

I disagree with 1 fruit a day, fruit is a lifesaver, lets face it, i didn't get fat binge eating grapes and apples OP is on point!
by (2.1k points)
@mid7225 I agree I eat 2-3 servings of fruit a day, I’m down 29 lbs. I eat zero points all day, then save my points for dinner! I must be doing something right!

Take the food you like and find a way to make it WW friendly

-do remember that all fruits and all veggies are not equal! Pick an apple over a banana- broccoli over corn!

Don't feel intimidated by a recipe that is unlike anything you've made before. I've tried a number of recipes just by watching some of those 30 second videos that cross my page. When I go to make them, they really are as simple as the videos make it seem.

I find that eating only 1 fruit a day is not a good habit. That might work for someone who doesn't like fruit and can fill in the rest of the page with other things that cover the nutritional value (not using vitamin pills). Remember the 3 to 5 servings a day suggestion that we were raised with. Eat the rainbow. Someone with diabetes might have to curb the amount of fruit they can have due to sugars, but that's a discussion to have with your doctor, not a bunch of strangers online.

Don't weigh yourself every day and don't compare your loss to anyone else's. Each of us has our own metabolism and DNA based on years of what we have put into our bodies and how we have used them.

Just because someone else lost 5 pounds the first week doesn't mean you will. Don't give up. Give it time. Take baby steps.

Don’t quit. This is not a miracle diet, it is a lifestyle change. Just as gaining weight takes time, so does losing it. Don’t get hung up on the scale, if you blow it one day, restart the next, and know that the program works! Most of all, be PATIENT.

I’m planning on joining this coming Monday. there is a meeting close to me. I’m very concerned about being successful because my S. O. is detrimental. He is almost 400lbs and always sabotages me when I have tried in the past. My fault for not being stronger of course. he has no intentions of trying to eat better. looking for suggestions on how to handle this issue. I am very determined because of my own health issues. looking for all the advice I can. Thank you
