So.  I'm new to WW.So. I'm new to WW. I kinda know how things work and have the free food list, etc. I don't go to any meetings or anything and a friend told me how many points she thought I could have per day using the smart points program. My question is this: how do I know exactly how many points I am allowed per day?
So. I'm new to WW.

You pay for a membership, download the app, answer the questions, and go from there

@phillis4 Watkins you are so right! I really hate to give out info that I pay for!
by (1.5k points)
@soul8905 why ? We should want to help others be healthy and happy, regardless of whether or not they can afford it. More so if they can't.

You have to use the app to get your points and you have to purchase a plan to get the app.

You need to be a paying WW member to have access to the app
by (1.4k points)
@orelia73697 Newby I didn't say I wasn't going to pay. I simply asked a question. I can google it for free anyway.

Once you sign up on the app it will guide you through a quiz to determine the right plan and you'll get your point allowance

There are 3 diff programs Green Blue and Purple. They will tell you which program is for you based on the questions they ask.
by (2.1k points)
@semination you have to be a paying member to read about the three groups!
by (2.4k points)
@soul8905 All you have to do is look on Pinterest
by (2.4k points)
@soul8905 Of course you do. But they are not a secret !

I stick to 1200 cal a day
by (47.5k points)
@striper217 I put my meal ideas in this group daily
by (240 points)
@teraterai Absolutely not. But most people do not have weight problems from eating 15 bananas! Not even relevant! I agree with others. Why are you giving advise on a WW page that has nothing to do with WW?
by (47.5k points)
@almshouse106 This group promotes tips and tricks from other members my suggestions are merely tips you are out of line
by (240 points)
@teraterai Seems like most agree with me! I follow the WW blue plan to a tee. Track my points religiously. Down 40+ lbs and at goal.
by (47.5k points)
@almshouse106 Why are you giving advice to me move on

It depends on height and weight. If you're looking to not pay, iTrackBites is a really good option !
by (26.7k points)
@phillis4 - the point total also is based on age and gender.
by (1.5k points)
@marmawke that's good to know. I didn't know that. Still, iTrackBites is a good option for those who don't want to pay for WW.
by (26.7k points)
@phillis4 - true.

Sounds like you are trying to get the program for free. If you paid in ANY way that information would have been supplied. I pay $ 44. 95 or so every month for the info you want. It was supplied at my first week!
by (2.6k points)
@venireman do u weigh in weekly? At the ww office w ur group or monthly?

You’re not new to WW if you’re not a member. We all paid to join, why should we give you all the info we paid to get?
by (580 points)
@encapsulate66 I'm in Australia. When I went to a meeting to sign up and w all got the same plan. When the new colour coded plans came, we chose what would work best for us. I am on purple. A lady a little older than me is too
by (240 points)
@liripipe404 that is not true. Your points are determined by your weight age and sex as well as which plan you are on.
by (580 points)
I thought this page we were supposed to help each other not be nasty. Sticking with my Australian support group. We're not mean to each other like here.
by (580 points)
@wit53 all I did was tell her what the Green plan consisted of. Information from the Weight Watchers website.
by (580 points)
@wit53 were you there at my Sydney meeting?

And I also it’s difficult to go off someone else’s suggestion my friend and I both do ww, we are allotted different points despite being the same height and similar weight

I agree with the above. I love helping out but it would be beneficial to be actual member and not get second hand info based on someone else.

The points are based on there formula for weight and height and unless you do a membership it really won't help you much. There is a similar option itrackbites.
by (4.6k points)
@pomology9 they also go by what you eat with the questions they ask if you will be blue purple or green.

I know money is tight, but my husband, son, and myself have all signed up for online WW. It’s worth the $20 (appx)/mo for each of us. Plus, if you have an Apple Watch the WW app works on it! We are all just starting our journeys this week. There is so much information on the app and their website that I really feel it’s worth it. And. I will save more than we are paying both in groceries and eventually medical bills. I do wish you all the luck in the world!

The app is less than $20 a month and soooo worth it! Love it! You can scan foods and will do the points for you most times. Tracks water and has made my life so much easier! Down 31 lbs in 4 months!
by (720 points)
@sauers I hope im that successful  good job!
by (11.7k points)
@orelia73697 I’ve taken advantage of being at home during the pandemic and have done A LOT of walking! Exercising definitely helps boost weight loss! Good luck to you!
by (580 points)
@sauers I'm in Australia and I paid nothing for the app
by (2.1k points)
@sauers So 20 a month is just the app no meetings?
by (1.9k points)
@sauers how much is the app can you share that and how can you purchase the app?
by (110 points)

Itrackbites is really similar and is free. I'll be switching to that once I reach goal to maintain. I'd suggest going that route. They will determine your points.

The online version is $20 a month. They have specials all the time.

It depends on the plan that you use. I'm on the purple plan and I have 16 points per day, blue is 23, and I believe green is 30. On all three you don't count fruits and veggies -reasonable portions of course. They are zero. Then foods start to get a little different in point values, but that's the foundation. Best wishes!
by (920 points)
@va98 i thought you counted fruit but not veggies on green.

Look, I know everyone is frustrated with people who want to join but not pay. But let’s be honest- many of us pay and have trouble sticking to it even with the financial commitment. If someone isn’t even willing to pay, do you really think they’re serious about a life change? I don’t ‍♀️ so why not help each other whenever we can? life is hard enough as it is- they’ll be bored in 2 weeks anyway , and if not. good for them

For anyone that's seriously upset that this lady is asking how many points she would get because she obviously hasn't purchased--I hate to be the one to break it to you but finding out how many points you would get on WW is not some huge, secret formula. You can Google it! She's obviously not going to get all the benefits you pay for and it will be much more difficult without the app but it sounds like she's trying to better herself. Are we seriously that much of a bunch of jerks to freak out over it? Move on!

Just a thought. The benefits of joining WW is the wonderful new friends that you make. The meetings are now through Zoom, but your still connecting with each other and getting inspiration. My Friday morning WW leader is a mixture of tough love and cheer leader. Then there is the actual app. that is a marvel of technology. There are tons of recipes, calculates points, tracks activity and so much more. After you reach your goal weight you become a life time member and all of it is free. Do I think the membership fees are worth it, you bet.

When you join you give your height Current weight and goal weight and they figure out your daily and weekly points allowed
