I'm so very new to this. Today I ate almost all free foods, except my pts for unsweetened vanilla almond milk for my latte (homemade). Is that ok? I didn't overeat and was full.

It is fine. Just don't do it every day. Zero point foods are VERY healthy. Much better than not being on WW and eatting junk!

You really need to eat your points to be in the healthy zone to lose weight
by (5.8k points)
Not on the purple plan - you really can eat a totally healthy diet and lost weight with only a few points for such items as oil.

If you're on purple, you need at least 5 points a day. include some oil and dairy every day.

You need to eat your points. The program is build around the points not the free foods. My dietician told me to balance my meals between my points as much as possible then use the free foods as buffers and snacks to learn to eat healthy. She actually told me to scroll past all the “look at the zero point meal I created” posts. She said they typically not balanced nor sustainable and the goal is a balanced and sustainable healthy lifestyle

Not ok. You need various foods to stay healthy. You don’t need to eat all your points but you need to eat some of them.

All you nay sayers. is having a boiled chicken breast, with yogurt sauce and fresh fruit and veggies not a variety?! You do NOT need to eat all your points everyday to be healthy!
by (16.4k points)
@freetown42075 you need fat in your diet. That's where your points come in.
by (5.6k points)
@jinajingle I agree fats are great for you! But if you dont have them everyday it will not be harmful.
by (16.4k points)
I disagree. I ate a very low fat diet (avocados and nuts every now and then) for a year and ended up with gallstones.
by (5.6k points)
@jinajingle yes. but you can have some days (not most) with not fats.
by (5.8k points)
@freetown42075 Actually the old WW used to stress that - and they should include that now - the recommendation was that you should have a teaspoon of oil or other healthy fat every day - both for health and for fuel to burn calories.

@prevocalic Recommends is the operative word.

For everyone there is a range of healthy. You need other micronutrients that just what free foods gives. My daily points is 23 and my range is 12-31 i believe.

Hi Kayla. I see this is very common when people first join. the key to having long term success is having enough variety in your food that you can sustain this long term. For example when I first started I cut out all oils and good fats in order to save points, but I found my skin and digestive system struggled. I added them back in and it helped. You will probably find the longer you participate, you will want to ensure you get more variety and incorporate non zero point foods consistently to ensure you can sustain It all and not get bored. Good luck!

@handshake I second this. I started my first 2-3 weeks strong with fruit and salad and quickly got bored.

If you don’t see a loss, your zero point foods may have too many calories. You may want to count your calories and make sure you keep them at 1200 daily.
by (16.4k points)
@shenashenan70632 1200 is starvation. A woman should eat anywhere from 1500 to 2500 depending on her caloric needs. However we do not count calories on weight watchers.

I will be first to say Please refrain from using the term “free food”. Some foods are “zero points”.

If you don't eat your points you don't get your blue dots.

Thank you everyone! I have a lot to learn! ❤️ So glad I asked. Any suggestions on what good carbs I can add? I have done keto before, so I'm in the mindset still that carbs are bad haha. I'm going to do more research!
by (1k points)
@britain i found that eating carbs like rice was still good but i cut my portions in half and doubled veggies. Like half a cup of rice instead of a cup with lots of broccoli

If you’re on blue or purple it’s very easy to do that

You should try to eat within your healthy eating zone. It’s located on the app under “Wellness win” folder. This is what mine says and I try to stay within that area.

It is good to vary your points. That is why you get carryovers. Some days it just happens that you don’t use them all. Sometimes I notice that I have a bunch left so I have something that I have been craving, so I use a few on that. I don’t feel deprived and I still stay within points. Your body will let you know what you need to do. Don’t be in a rush, trying to loser 4 or 5 pounds per week. This is not a diet but a lifestyle change. You want to be able to live with it.

As far as I can tell, you need to eat some of the points that you are allotted each day. They are not free, they are your protein, fat and carbs that your body needs to work properly. Your zero points, in my experience are good for your snacks and when you don't feel full during the day.
by (5.6k points)
@unemployed Collins chicken breast has plenty of protein, and fruits have plenty of carbs. basically all you are missing is fat, and that is okay to do occasionally.

@freetown42075 yep.
