Does anyone have advice on split levelling a garden? Can it be done by hand or am I being crazy?

One we did for a client, lots of digging but sleepers are quicker and cheaper to install for supporting the ground rather than walls. They dont last as long but give a nice finish.

@passkey how long do sleepers last? We’ve had a quote of 4K which is never gonna happen!

@crooks0 it depends on how much moisture they will be subject to but I would say a softwood sleeper will last around 20 years. Without seeing the job I wouldn't be able to comment on the price but anytime you are digging out or filling in it's a costly job.

Think this is what we are doing. By hand as we can't get equipment around the back. We've filled several big skips costing 100s. Moved on to taking to tip in Ikea bags. Bloody hard work but had quotes of thousands to dig out and slab.
