Old decking boards I've taken up to turn over and reuse having the smooth part on the top now. Want to recycle as much of the decking as I can. Advice please, would you clean decking first by jet washing and using decking restore (then I'm oiling it) or would you sand the rough parts back ( where I had to remove rusty screw's) so the board is smooth and then clean. Also as the boards are all up would you do the above before placing back down? I have the sander, decking restorer and oil ready.

My friend had decking fitted smooth side up. It was a death trap in wet and winter. Think of something antislip.
