Can anyone give me tips on painting a fence please? I got frustrating news today about my chemo drugs and instead of baking (my normal stress reliever), I insanely started painting the fence but our garden is huge. why did I start it!?!?!
Can anyone give me tips on painting a fence please?

Thank you so much for the kind comments, tips and encouragement. I have a huge wide brimmed sun hat and I'm wearing long sleeves and trackie bottoms so I'm well protected in the sun especially when the chemo drugs make my skin super sun sensitive. I'll try it tomorrow using a sponge and then work my way through all your suggestions. It will be worth it and sure if anything else, it'll always remind me of this time.

@glynas take each five mins at at a time, perhaps do alternate panels so if u stop half way it looks balanced, i always use brush. A hat is a must  no hair is cold. A sense of acheivement is great take care x

A fence roller may make it quicker except for the fiddly bits or a sprayer xx

I started mine, with about 25 sides to do. one section faces onto a public footpath and since starting last week i have spoken to so many people passing by, social distancing observed. it’s been worth every painstaking minute x enjoy the peace x

Just believe there’s no rush set yourself a task of one or half a day. Or set a time limit. It will be worth it x

Take a panel at a time. Use a big brush with long bristles if you can get one. Slap it on and take your frustration out on each bit. Hopefully your drugs are sorted but until they are use your fence to vent. Dont over do it either.

I’m in the same boat as you and like you I started painting my fences too it took me two days but my determination got me through! I had 18 panels to paint too. Just keep focused and you’ll be fine

A really big wide brush. I have a decking paint brush. Or a spray gun. Take it steady, do a bit, have a cuppa, do a bit more, have a bit of cake and do a bit more

Not seen it mentioned but throwing a paint soaked sponge at the fence might be quite therapeutic, and you can then just fill in the gaps.

So sorry about your news, go paint your fence any color or combination or colors you want. Heck a Jackson Pollack tribute might be fun.
