I plateaued for 2 weeks when I started my Zyrtec too I had a weight loss doc tell me a few years ago that some of her patients on antihistamines had a harder time losing weight- I’ve never seen any studies or articles on it, but it may be a possible reason !

Yes is a fact., does slow it down. happens to me. so I started taking Flonase spray nightly and that seems to be working and no more zyrtec

@casar, thanks. I’ve done Flonase (and others) and I end up with a bloody nose multiple times a day.

@unbacked Some people say to put a little vaseline inside your nose to protect the membranes from bleeding.

I talked to my coach last week about allergy options and Zyrtec is preferred over Allegra and Claritin (but not Zyrtec D). It can def slow you down though. I am using a saline spray several times a day (it helps flush out the allergens from the nasal passages). I always use it when i come back from being outside. It seems to be helping and I haven’t needed the Zyrtec yet. If the saline spray stops working I’ll try Flonase before Zyrtec. My coach also said no liquid or chewables - it has to be the pill as the others contain sugar.

@idyll, I hope you are able to figure it out. You can do this.

@unbacked just frustrating. Not doing anything different.

@idyll, I’ve had a couple of plateaus. They resolve when I stay the course. My frustration is I had just broken through a plateau only to hit a new allergy induced one.

Has anyone had long term success on this plan? I'm considering starting it but wonder if people have been able to keep weight off.

@taster I lost 65 pounds in 2016. Gained 19 back in the first 6 months. Kept that off for until I gained 15 more from Nov-March. You have to eat clean the rest of your life. I started back March 17 and am down 15 pounds. 15 more to my goal of 120. 3 of my friends that did it at the same time as me gained all of theirs back and they each lost 100, 65 and 60.

Thanks for the info, Diane. I worry about long-term success because the plan is so restrictive.

@taster it works. I continue to learn about how my body processes things.
