So today I’m faced with a challenge and could use some advise. We a going to small (just 4 of us) BBQ and they are serving ribs and paella. How do I get through this without going off protocol?

If they r grilling maybe bring u chicken breast or piece of steak & have them grill it for u. I would make me a salad to take with me to have with my meat

A lot of barbecue places will fix the meat with no sauce and you get a salad. done it plenty of times!

If they are friends I always explained that I was on a strict diet and was not eating certain things. Then just tell them not to count on me for the meat that I would bring my own food and some veggies or a salad to share. No one ever minded.

Bring your own food. Set yourself up for success and remember this is temporary. Next year, you will enjoy those ribs.

This is the PERFECT time to show up with your own food - no questions asked or explain actions needed. If you feel like you have to say you are taking this COVID time to clean up your diet to be in tip top health!

Depends how comfortable you are with them - anything from bring your own food to maybe “picking” out meat/seafood from paella and maybe scrapping off any sauce on your ribs.

I went to a bbq yesterday. There was a ton of food but I brought cauliflower potato salad and had it with a hamburger, onion, and lettuce. No problem.

Can make hamburger with no bun! Or Big Mac salad. Every BBQ I bring a crap load of cucumbers with lime and a little IP salt and munch on their while everyone munches on chips etc

Find out what BBQ rub are on the ribs. If it is a no sugar rub, you are ok as long as you stay away from the BBQ sauce. Most Cole slaw has sugar, so don't be fooled.

Bring a large salad for the party that is IP friendly.

Thanks everyone! I ended up bringing my own food and I feel so good that I stayed on protocol. This is temporary.
