Hello!  Looking for support!Hello! Looking for support! I start the diet this week and am a little nervous! I am Not crazy about the “fad” diets where when you stop you gain it right back! I usually have luck with weight watchers but am much higher than I have ever been so wanted something restrictive to start. Looking for positive reinforcement and encouragement! I have two young children, so hoping this gives me more energy! Does it? I would be happy losing 40-50. I am Worried about what happens when you stop! Thank you everyone!

I will be honest. I lost 30lbs fast. And gained it back fast when I stopped. It’s a lifestyle change. You can not do this diet lose the weight then go back to your old eating habits. It’s a great diet to jumpstart you into eating cleaner then reintroducing carbs back into your diet in moderation. Good luck. And yes I had more energy than ever! Felt 18 again! You got this:)

@nambypamby yes but in moderation.

This is a stepping stone to help you lose weight. It teaches you how to eat as you phase off. It is lifestyle change that you agree to do, to not gain the weight back. You have toi be ready for a lifetime change to healthy eating.

I’ve been off and on ideal protein for 6 years! I always gain when I stop the diet. I go back on and lose the weight. This is the “lifestyle” You have a trigger number, if you gain 5-7lbs you go back on phase 1 protocol. At least there’s a plan in place. I don’t believe in this diet being the answer, it’s only sustainable if you can afford to continually be going back on it. I’ve heard that some have success keeping the weight off but they must not be having any food cheats or drinking alcohol. I’m incredibly disciplined in healthy eating, I work out cross fit and a ride horses, hike, bike, very active lifestyle, I still slowly gain weight when off 100% protocol. The diet works. You will lose the weight if you commit 100% to the protocol. But sustainability, for me and others I know, the weight creeps back. Be prepared to abstain from all refined sugar and carbs for the rest of your life. Practice self control, you can only have 1 glass of wine, half a piece of toast, and 1 square of the chocolate! And it can only happen on the 3rd Friday of every month between the hours of 3pm-5pm otherwise you will gain the weight back! I’m kidding, but you are only supposed to have a cheat day, but still moderate your cheat, you still should be very moderate in what you consume, then get back on track the next day and always monitor your weight, so when those pounds start coming back you can get back in phase 1 to get them off. It takes a really committed person to be so disciplined on going for the rest of your life.

I know some of Aidens response was tongue and check but it simply is not true. Yes if you want to go back to your addiction to sugar in order to avoid and numb the stress in your life you will gain the weight back. No diet program in the world fixes the problem ( 85% psychology) that is driving your eating behavior. Diet only fix the symptom of weight and that's 30% of the solution. Aiden if I said "get down to your ideal weight range stay there for 2 years and never go outside of that 7-10lb range and I will give you 5 million dollars " You would have a 95% probability of keeping the weight off. All I did was change your psychology.

@infinitude yes if you were to pay me 5 million after two years, I would totally abstain from all sugars, alcohol, start weighing everything I put in my body, all the triggers that cause weight to be put back on. The reality is that most people find it difficult to live this way for the rest of their lives, so inevitably end up back on phase 1 to lose the pounds gained. I’m sorry but it’s a reality that to maintain weight after goal you have to be incredibly strict and minimal in your cheats and how you cheat or you do put weight back on. Im also very physically fit, work out regularly and keep my diet in check. I avoid foods that I know are going to put weight on me. I still slowly gain 7lbs over time, maybe to much cheese here and there maybe to many glasses of wine, I am not someone who eats processed fast foods, I believe I am what I eat, I take care of my temple so to speak. I do believe our body chemistry varies, some are more sensitive to weight gain than others. My body is happy at 1200 calories at most in a day otherwise I gain, doesn’t matter what do for fitness or diet! I have to go back on phase 1 eating the packets based on 900-1000 calories and I lose. I haven’t found any other way to get the weight off quickly and I sure as heck haven’t found the answer to keeping it off other than to continually go back on phase 1 to lose the little bit I gain.

Here is the catch. Like you I am a lifer with WW but I found I had slowly let about 20 pounds creep back on. I did IP in a moderate sense while still using my WW guidelines. Only restriction was my carbs and sugar. I am gluten free so the carbs was a good & easy thing. I did give up my grapes - that was hard but I wanted to see just how bad sugar was and that was my main source of sugar. In 17 weeks I lost 20 lbs. averaged 1. 5 a week. I think IP allowed you to lose more but I was happy with this I still do my WW thing and am keeping off the weight. I have slowly introduced grapes and Greek yogurt back into my diet but not in the huge quantities I was consuming before so to answer your question YES you can gain it all back but only if you don’t remember what you have learned along the way and use it Combining both is working for me but again I’m not doing IP hard core, but I do love the gluten free foods

It’s a great diet. First week you want to quit, but wait till your weigh in. Well worth it. If you follow there step down you will do fine

It depends on whether or not you want to change the way you are eating for good or you want this to be a temporary change? If you are changing your lifestyle for good then you won’t gain it back. A lot of people (including myself) couldn’t grasp this concept. I have now finally.

It's a lifestyle and lifelong journey. If you're looking for a "quick fix" then don't waste your money. Work hard & the weight will come off but go back to old habits & you'll put it back on & possibly more. I've been there & done that too many times. Do you want to be healthy? Then let this be the first step in your journey.
