Team: are any of you using the transformer for Ring video doorbell V1? I called tech support and asked if I could just leave it plugged in with the charger, just put a small hole in the wall. They said that might hurt the unit, and suggested I buy the transformer. I ordered the transformer but on the website it says that is for ring 2 and up. So just curious what your experience has been.

My Original doorbell had trouble with my 30yo mechanical doorbell. Ended up shorting the Ring. I bought a new one and a power adapter. Luckily, I was able to drill thru the Sheetrock to make it work. I eliminated my mechanical bell. It has worked beautifully for a while now.

Any doorbell transformer should be fine as long as it meets the current/voltage requirements.
