Hi everyone, I'm a new member and a first post please be kind. Just spent over an hour reading through recent posts. I'm new to home automations. So far I've got 2 google mini's, several smart plugs, wifi module for garage door, vaccum which all integrates with Google assistant. I would like to add more things like LED strips, downlights, sensors, cameras and more. I've Intel NUC I will be using. What are my options in regards to hub? I've noticed hassio is very popular but I would like to start adding more things before I have to pay for subscriptions. What are your recommendations? Also what are the coolest things you would suggest? Any wifi enabled downlights with 90mm cutout? Also I'm not electrician so no wiring etc.

Hassio (HomeAssistant) is the way to go. You don't have to pay a subscription to use it. What the subscription give you is a simple to set up, Secure remote connection and Google Home integration. Plus it supports the free software.
