I wasn't being serious Heather. I've been tending our garden since we moved in 1988. We moved here with 5 kids. We've had sand pits in it for for children and grandchildren, and all manner of contraptions. Grass is wonderful but old age tends to alter perspective. ?

Normal salt mixed with white vinegar, a squirt of fairy liquid and water will kill the weeds. get the large bags of cooking salt and bog standard vinegar and it won’t cost more than a fiver.

Salt will only harm any animal that ingests it or living in fresh water. Salt kills plants by Osmosis.

Just remember folks, where the soil is contaminated by salt, nothing grows. It's not just weeds it kills. So be careful where you use it.

Why don’t you just get a hoe and chop them off every few weeks? It takes 2 minutes and no poisons involved.

Regular Aldi salt works - BUT be careful it isn’t washed into lawns or flowerbeds - if you have light coloured gravel Rock salt discolours it

We have a gravelled extra parking place . I wait until it isn’t windy and closely just pour the salt on - great to do if rain is expected later - just pour it on section by section - after a couple of times doing this it should be months until you see the odd weed - even if you water it in or let the rain wash it in - do make sure you wash any of your animal paws that may have walked across it for the next couple of days x

Don't use salt, it stays in the soil & builds up. It'll kill your plants as well as weeds. Go to a pound shop & buy a proper weedkiller it's only a pound after all!

Salt, vinegar boiling water, bleach etc will will kill all the little insects, and worms etc, destroy all the goodness in the soil and eco system. Please don't use them. Just pull the weeds out. x
