@fivefold this is an IP document, it looks like. In the Select section it says: you must eat 4c a day, cooked or raw. Full stop. If the veg appears on both Unlimited and Select, and you cook it, it must count. But there is nothing that says if it’s raw, it doesn’t count. Except for the Unlimited which must be raw to be considered Unlimited.

@manganous I’d ask your coach. Mine was very specific because if you read the bottom section it explains the molecular change when cooked thereby making it a select veg. Otherwise it would not have been in the unlimited section. Raw spinach is not in both categories.

@fivefold That last section speaks only to cooking the crossover veggies — if cooked they are no longer Unlimited, they must be counted as Select. That is all that section says. In the Select section, in bold, it says your 4c can be cooked or raw. Also Occasional can be cooked or raw. I have this confirmed by IP so I will stop debating. For sure, no one’s overweight because of counting or not counting Select Veg consumed raw. But the poor veggie hating dieter that’s putting 2c of spinach in their shakes IS getting 2c of Select in.

@manganous did you read the bottom paragraph on the chart? It clearly says cooked spinach would count as select.

@fivefold ii don’t disagree with that! Cooked spinach must be counted as Select. I’ve said as much above. That however does not mean that raw spinach isn’t counted as Select. Raw spinach can count as Select, or, if you are consuming 4c of other Select/Occasional Veg that day, you can consider that raw spinach as Unlimited.

For my lunches I typically have a very large salad with a lot of veggies (peppers, radishes, shredded cabbage, spinach). My packet consists of my cup of black tea with a bar . My salad dressing is typically some Infused Extra Virgin Olive oil and some vinegar or lemon juice. This is my kind of "go to" almost every day. I "might" have a hard boiled egg on occasion, or some canned tuna but those days are rare.

Rotini pasta with sautéed peppers, mushrooms, and zucchini. Or I make pizza crust or a wrap from the potato purée and load with cooked veggies. Both are so good and filling!

One of my favorites. Peel a cucumber and hollow it out and add ham, turkey, or meat of your choice. Add whatever other veggies to make a cucumber sandwich. You could eat a bag of IP chips with it as well with salsa.

I have to have a gigantic salad or I get hungry long before dinner if I just do 2 cups veggies and an IP. Sounds boring but I love salads

I make a vegetable soup for the week and have that each day as my lunch vegetable. I mix up the vegetables I put in it. I keep it pretty simple as I use the frozen vegetables from Costco. I then usually have a chocolate pudding, shake or a baked good like a cookie. I use to have the chicken soup with cauliflower or broccoli but they did away with the cream of chicken soup I liked. However, I wouldn’t eat it now due to soy.
