You could be building muscle that adds weight even while fat is going down

For most people its extremely hard to lose weight and work out at the same time. You are chasing two different rabbits that are running in opposite directions. Decide what your main goal is and just do that. So in other words , go back to the regular protocol and lose your fat and then hit the gym hard. The alternative protocol was never designed to be a workout protocol it was designed for type one diabetics

Doesnt the alternative program have enoigh carbs that you would be out of ketosis? That would account for a gain. If you are trying to lose fat and gain muscle try getting a smart scale so you can see the breakdown of fat, muscle, water, etc. The one number on a traditional scale won't show you the progress you're looking for.

Remember muscle weighs more than fat so your body composition would be more important to know.
