Hello, I am 5 days in and have bought food at the grocery store 3 different times running out of stuff. What’s a way to make this realistically affordable. My husband is doing a modified version of this but between the two of us 8 cups of veggies a day plus the unlimited raw veggies is being burned thru very fast. What do you buy each week so your not breaking the bank?

Frozen veggies work.

I used Walmart great value frozen (steamable) broccoli and califlower during my entire P1 journey. Around a buck a bag.

@deerhound3 I mixed it up. I can't believe it's not butter spray and garlic powder was my go to but I tried to get a new cheapish spice every other week to try. You can also mix the steamed veggies in with packets. Chicken a la king, omelet mix, etc.

I thought it was going to be expensive too, but when you’re NOT buying chips, dip, hamburger helper, pizza, pop tarts, cans of soup, creamer, cookies, etc., and spending that on veggies instead it saved me money.

I bought the soups, and puréed 2 cups of either spinach, broccoli or cauliflower each day into the leak or broccoli soup. It was a no brainer, easy to drink and quick to eat for lunches. I bought fresh spinach and frozen of the other two. Also, make sure you get a scale and Google a form for the weights of veggies - what a cup weighs. You will find you are not wasting food and it will really make you succeed at IP. For dinner part of my veggies was serving a salad made with one baby spinach fresh. Just eating that cup and adding a cup of other veggies to my salad worked well. I was not a fan of buying all the Walden stuff and in fact I only bought IP protein bars, shakes and soups. I didn’t even buy the cookbook. I wanted to save money.

I make a veggie soup with lots of cabbage, green beans, spinach and tomatoes. South beach diet recipe. It’s a great way to get in your veggies.

@sell3378 I use an IP pack of either chicken soup or mushroom and add a little stock to steam my 2 cups of veggies and puree with a hand held immersion blender. Makes 2 cups of “soup”. Easy way for me to get in veggies which I always struggle with.

I usually pick something like the pudding for “dessert” at lunch

We had to realize that we needed to tap into the eating out food/entertainment budget for groceries/plan. Much healthier. In season and freeze helps, too.
