Is there a guideline for how much exercise would make you a candidate for IP alternative vs phase 1?

There is really no written criteria so basically if you are exercising at all where your heartrate is increased (so like 100bpm or higher) you should do alternative instead.

@sheepdip a couple reasons. one is that it is already a very low calorie diet. burning calories through exercise can bring you down to a dangerously low number of calories per day. Second is that the diet is designed to preserve your muscle mass whole burning fat. The amount of carbs fats and proteins are set at a number safe and effective when not exercising. so if you do exercise on the diet you will likely lose muscle mass which is eventually slow down weight loss plus make it easier to regain in the future.

You should not exercise (except for light exercise i. e. walking) in phase 1. if you want to do more. it would be important to verify with your coach
