I bought several months supply of the ideal protein program as I did it two years back. I had a baby who is now 10 months old and still nursing. has anybody else been able to do this program and nurse? Did you just have to up your protein and veggie? My coach is out do to covid-19 and I was going to wait for her to return to start it but I really want to start it right now.

Check with your doctor. You may have to do modified version.

@alienation58 see that is the funny thing my primary doctor doesn't quite understand the whole Ideal Protein or Keto thing ?!

Yeah. Many doctors don’t, but you probably need more carbs for nursing.

I wouldn’t think you could do this while nursing. There’s a lot of soy in the IP products, artificial sweeteners, etc. I don’t know - I’m not an expert or a coach, but I definitely wouldn’t while nursing.

@fellers I know I probably should just wait I want to at least get until Everett is 1 year old .

I would NEVER put anything in my body that has chemicals or suger free while pregnant OR nursing. I would just EAT clean.

@hough9 I know. I was thinking that as well. Thank you. ‼️ I really wanted to get in shape before summer but it's more important to nurse my son until he's at least one!  {July 3️⃣}

I support you and am not judging at all. But there are chemicals in ANY product that is 'sugar free'. Known carcinogens.

@hough9 agreed .

My coach didn’t recommend nursing while on the program, however . it didn’t work out for us . so I started back a few weeks ago ☺️

@ventura7 what didn't work out for you? Do you mean nursing or the ideal protein program?
by (210 points)
Sorry! Nursing didn’t work out unfortunately. Ideal was amazing before pregnancy I lost nearly 100lbs . cannot wait to get this weight back off !

@ventura7 prior to the conception of my son I lost 50 lb in a few months as well. I really love the program and think it works as long as you follow the sheet! That's why I'm so adamant about getting back on the program. I guess I'll just have to be patient.

If you are going to keep nursing I would not use anything that has this much sweeteners in it— most IP packs have sweeteners and other processed things in them. But if you are going to pump and dump— I would think you can by increasing your intake.

@hah7 that's the unfortunate thing I don't want to stop actually nursing him. So I think I'm going to have to wait on doing the program a little bit longer. I thought I could pump and dump as well but then I would have to start formula feeding him

@kwabena63163 yes you can always work out. Maybe use this time to eat clean and work out— do not cut carbs while nursing and you will have an easier transition and will just have to limit carbs and your muscle tone will alreDy be in place.

@hah7 that's is a great idea I'll do that . Thank you !

I was always told by my doctor to wait until I was done. Only thing that was approved while nursing for me was weight watchers.

I did clean eating on a low carb of 5caebs per meal and lost the same during post part & nursing Ate 4 meals which came to 20carbs and plenty of veggies and light cheese sticks for snack and gallon of water daily, still lost the same amount during IP I'm not sure if it was because I was nursing which burns more calories

@verdieverdigris8808 see that's why I thought maybe I could still do the ideal protein program and maybe just increase my I take. Ill have to wait I suppose !

I tried doing low carb / low cal diet before when nursing & my milk production was severely affected . IMO . it’s a short time to sacrifice and then once weaned . go back at it
