Will just slow your weight loss if you continuously do it

@brume thank you! My cousin was asking me about how I am doing on the diet and asked about the amount of protein. I didn’t have an answer for her.

Is it not 8 oz anymore?
by (2.4k points)
@adair20204 not anymore. I just started back after a 4 year hiatus so I was shocked. My coach told me they made the change in January of this year. Also moved around some vegetables and changed the phase off process to make it more individualized.

Neat! I've been off it for a while but have stayed on pages to try and keep on track. Honestly getting in the 8oz was the part I struggled with the most, my body just can't seem to handle that much protein.

That's strange I just started 3 weeks ago and my coach tells me its 8oz still. I've lost 20 pounds so far
by (4.4k points)
Canada I believe is still 8oz raw ND 6oz cooked.

I guess it depends on how strict you are with yourself. I am not an exact person. Some people are. I don’t lose 4 lbs a week. I average 1. 5-1. 7 a week. And I am ok with that. So some days I do eat extra protein if that’s what I need to keep this sustainable for me. It’s better then extra fat or too many extra carbs. I don’t recommend it every day but it has never hurt me. That being said when I first joined the protein was 8 Oz anyway

Canadians are still at 8 oz. 8 oz has been ABSOLUTELY FINE for years and years and in fact coaches for all those years told clients the 8 oz was absolutely required to preserve lean muscle mass. Truth be told, some US clinics refuse to change to the lower protein amounts. Nothing will happen if you continue at 8 oz.

I started 1 week ago and I am in Canada and I was told 6-8 oz raw or 4-6 oz cooked
by (11.5k points)
@meter8 that is not correct . We measure RAW every time ! And it’s 4-6 raw !
by (34k points)
@prescriptive97 In Canada it is still 8 oz.
by (11.5k points)
@footrope for some reason right ? But here they changed it back in January . Lots have changed since I did it 6 years ago .
by (34k points)
@prescriptive97 Canadian federal nutrition requirements do not allow a recommended serving under 8 oz. it was 8 oz for everyone everywhere for the last 8 years or so. It changed in Jan.
by (760 points)
Yeah I'm in canada also and we are still 8oz
by (2.8k points)
Yes 6-8 oz raw in Canada:) honestly that’s barely enough in my opinion. I split it up throughout The day because of my health reasons but ya it’s good for me and more realistic for every day life.

My information says 7 oz of protein.
by (34k points)
@corroborate40870 That is either very very very old or was something made up by your clinic. Can you show your phase sheet?
by (780 points)
@footrope It is actually a brand new sheet that I got in March when I started back on the program. When I was on the program 9 years ago it was 8 oz.
by (780 points)
@footrope I apologize. I went back and reread my sheet and it is 4-6.
by (34k points)
@corroborate40870 The official sheet shows 4-6 oz protein (US) or 8 oz (Canada). So if your says 7 oz, it is not the current IP sheet.
by (34k points)
@corroborate40870 Ah, yes, that is the current one.

In this protocol it’s very strict with measurements . There is no guessing or “ what if “ or you will not loose weight . I would say eat 4-6 if you continuously want to be in Ketosis and have the results .

I’m not saying I am going against anything. I didn’t know how to answer her so I asked a question

Absolutely nothing, seriously. I began in July when it was 8oz. . and I'm still consistently losing. I didnt change to the 5 oz. I told my coach I'll switch over if I stall out. I'm 15 lbs. To goal with a 75 lbs loss. I say eat the 3oz.

Me too I started in August and still losing with 8 oz. not changing now

When I did it we ate 8 oz and I lost 1. 5 to 2 lbs most weeks, a few times a little more. Would have been faster with the 4-6oz. I’m sure. Did notice my best weeks were when I had chicken or fish once or twice, as I usually had beef because we are beef farmers and always had it.
by (11.6k points)
@schechinger57841 it’s still 8oz in Canada and our dieters are consistently seeing over 2/week  my mains are ground beef and steaks!

@sudiesudnor I never was hungry which helped stave off my sweet tooth.

I just started end of March and my sheet says 4-6 oz whole protein - but adds a caveat that we can have up to 2 additional ounces of protein per day if needed
by (34k points)
@helicon5 Banaszak This is NOT the current protocol sheet. Clinics were supposed to change in January.
by (34k points)
@helicon5 Banaszak Actually it isn’t even the sheet that was being used the last four years!
by (3.5k points)
@footrope - well that sucks as my clinic just gave this to me in March (NY state).

by (2.3k points)
@helicon5 when did you start

It’s funny when I first started the program it was 8-10 oz protein and I thought that was sooooooo much food. I could never eat it all. Now at 4-6 oz I find myself eating the 8-10oz consistently .
