Need some advice!  I'm having my knee replaced next Monday and I want to order some extra things to have on hand for the first couple of weeks.Need some advice! I'm having my knee replaced next Monday and I want to order some extra things to have on hand for the first couple of weeks. My son is living with us now and he can certainly help with my food prep. What would you order and have on hand to make life even more simple the next couple of weeks? Recipes that I can freeze are helpful as well! Thanks!

Do you have Janeva’s cookbook? If so you can make some muffins and freeze ahead for a quick breakfast.

I do! I just got it so I haven't tried many recipes yet, but what I have tried has been great and a welcome change. What packets do you use the most for her recipes?

I use the caramel mug cake a lot for muffins and pancakes. I love the nacho dorados for lunch with the roasted cauliflower soup and I love the cookie dough bars for evening snack. I’m not so much a fan of the drinks. I like to chew my food lol.

@latoya me too although I often have the chocolate shake as my breakfast and warm half of it to add to my coffee for a mocha drink. Feels like such a treat.

@hiroshima I have both on mine done. The 28th will be the 3rd anniversary of my right one. Drink a lot of water because the pain killers will make things "difficult" in the bathroom department. I would recommend a lot of soup. Good luck! :)

Oh yes. that is such good advice. I had an ankle partial fusion and then replacement over the last few years so I know all too well the havoc those meds make. Thanks for the reminder!

@hiroshima remember, your emotions will be wonky, but you can do this! IP will make it a lot easier on your joints too <3

Thank you. I went on this to loose weight just to be able to get the surgery. My surgeon recommended the program. I had lost 60# on my own and now almost 70# on IP so I am already seeing a difference in so many ways. Groups like these are so helpful and supportive.

I had rotator cuff surgery and did the same thing. Things I froze that I was able to make P1 compliant: Chili (watch tomatoes with added sugar, substituted cauliflower for beans), meat loaf, soup (again watch added sugar). Also agree if you have Janeva's cookbook there are lots of items you can freeze in there. Good luck!

What packets do you use the most for her recipes? I'm putting in an order to my clinic and want to stock up on things I can do ahead.

Does anyone know why nuts and seeds are prohibited on phase 1? I;m guessing the high fat? Just curious.
The Ideal Protein Protocol Group is where you can always find questions, answers, advice, reviews & recommendations from other community members about recipes, tips, and support for Phase 1 of the Ideal Protein Protocol.
