My friend lost 200lbs not on IP and had that done. Then she proceeded to gain it back

@imogen that’s too bad. I have to pay for my surgery out of pocket as insurance won’t cover it but I’m having a lot of issues and pain with the excess skin

@vernon I think a big part for her was she didn’t lose the things that caused the wright gain in the first place

@imogen yea. You have to be in the right mind space.

@vernon yes

@imogen yes, it's a lot more than just lost pounds. It's usually recommended to wait an amount of time to ensure you will maintain it.

@imogen I think normally, surgeons want to see you maintain for at least a year. I’m planning on getting a 360 tummy tuck if needed. If not, then a regular tummy tuck, I don’t like the panniculectomy.

@vernon if pain then your insurance might cover it. I would check with your doctor.

I just had a panniculectomy done two weeks ago Friday and I was about 10 pounds to goal. As of this morning I am now 3 pounds to goal. I am hoping for more work to be done later if I can’t tone those specific areas. I definitely see implants in the future.

@leasia it is definitely not an easy surgery to go through but I am loving the results and the pain is tolerable. It is a lot of resting for the first so many weeks. Lots of limitations and restrictions.

@loram I’m so scared to get it done but so want the skin gone.

I had a consultation for a tummy tuck and breast lift a few years ago and it was recommended that I get to goal weight first. I’ve been trying to get to goal since then. Hoping I can do it this time around and get the surgery before my 50th bday in August.

@peculate I’m at my goal weight and have been maintaining for over a month now. You can do it!

I did! The best thing I ever done ! Big surgery as I was 50 at the time but would recommend it to anyone.

@demand congratulations! How was the recovery? That’s what I’m most concerned about. I can’t be off work for too long.

@peculate unfortunately I was off with a broken arm. so it was good timing. But it's big surgery. I had over 70 staples. From behind you could see the cuts on my behind. And I had drain tubes in for a week or so

@demand oh wow! I can’t imagine the recovery with also a broken arm. Did you have help? How long before you were up moving around pretty good?
by (2.3k points)
@peculate I had my cast off the week before surgery. So it was a plus. But had 6 months off for the broken arm Lots of time to heal the belly . I remember the first two weeks just lying around taking it easy. I seemed to nap a lot . I think I was out walking in 4 weeks.

I was up walking the night after surgery.

@demand thank you so much! That was perfect timing!
