Is I’ve said before, I really don’t like meat and I really struggle with evening meals. My attempts to find a delivery service with meals that fit the protocol have proved fruitless. So I bought Janeva’s book and I was so excited to make the Tikka Masala and love it! I was telling my coach about it today and she asked me what was in it. When got to tomato paste she said it was not part of the protocol for phase 1! I’m so sad. Was so excited for supper tonight. Have others made it without the tomato paste or is there an IP friendly tomato paste that I just don’t know about? Thanks

I've never heard of it not being protocol. We make the marinara sauce all the time and it has tomato paste in it.

I’ve made it with tomato paste and not had any issues. Just counted it as my veggies. The Tikka Masala is one of my favorites

My understanding is Janevas cook book is IP approved so why would there be recipe's in there that we can't have?

I have that cookbook and our coach has never told us something in it was not protocol. You do need to be careful with doing tomatoes too often, but I use that book every day. My husband has lost close to 90 pounds. I’ve lost 30 (my goal) and am maintaining. I don’t think it’s necessary to be so legalistic. The program works, but we are more interested in the life-style change. If that means it moves a little slower because we throw a little tomato paste into a recipe every now and again, we’re okay with that.

My coach marked this recipe as one of her favorites when I asked for her opinions on the book. I'm pretty sure everything in there is protocol. I say enjoy your masala. Especially if your struggling with the meat options
